This is where you will find us if the weather is nice. Simple drinks and live music out on the wharf. Our favorite show was a Beatles cover band, complete with costumes and wigs! Directly above the Porthole, Boone's is the place to sip on a cocktail and enjoy some fresh oysters if you want to listen to the music at a relaxed distance.
Speakeasy where everything is $5
Portland has the most breweries per capita of any city in the US. Bissell Brother's is a favorite with plenty of New England style beer, but there are so many to choose from! Check out the Maine Beer Trail for more!
If you're looking to do a bit of shopping on your way up, Freeport has a series of outlets and is also home to the L.L. Bean flagship store. The campus has four different stores as well as a separate outlet.
Boothbay is a favorite coastal town of ours. The harbor has lots of small shops and restaurants where you can enjoy some fried clams and a beer while you watch the boats.
If you'd like a little nature, we recommend the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens. You could easily spend the entire day at the Gardens, which stretch down to the ocean.
Porter's Preserve has a series of walking paths through pine forests and along the rocky coastline. We like to bring some beers and some lunch and watch the water from the rocks.
Located on the Damariscotta River, Newcastle and Damariscotta offer some quaint shops and pubs to stop and grab some food. Our favorite is King Eiders Pub. Also grab some oysters-the Damariscotta River is the largest supplier of oysters in Maine!
Pemaquid Point has always been a favorite summer destination for Alison's family, and a must-see for friends and family visiting. You can view the iconic lighthouse and surrounding landscape. Walking around on the rocks and watching the surf is a perfect way to spend an afternoon. This is our place to go in stormy weather to see some dramatic waves. If you go, please be careful!
Shaw's Fish & Lobster Wharf has Alison's favorite lobster roll!
The Farnsworth Museum is home to art by Maine artist Andrew Wyeth. His most famous work is "Christina's World", which is showcased at the MoMA in New York. The Oslon House, featured in that painting and the subject of much of his work, can also be visited.
It can get wet! Wear appropriate clothing!
The Sekerak's favorite coastal town. Slow down and meander the shops, enjoy a beer in one of the local pubs, or read a book on the lawn while overlooking the harbor.
A 2-acre park at the edge of the harbor. Harbor Park was designed by the Olmsted Brothers. The amphitheater across the street sits adjacent to the library, which is carved into the hill.
Rooftop bar with views of the harbor.
A quick hike with a great view of Camden Harbor. Pick some wild blueberries for a snack on the way up!
Our favorite little town in Maine! If you are planning to visit Acadia, Bar Harbor is the place to stay, eat and drink!
Our favorite bar. They have wine, beer cocktails and our favorite oysters. You have to get their espresso martini!
Our favorite Inn in Bar Harbor. We stayed here our first time visiting. It's so quaint, and they have the best outdoor bar in town. Anyone can come use their outdoor fires and bar. Most days the have live music as well. This was the first place we came after Alec proposed!
Our favorite breakfast spot in Bar Harbor!
There's a reason we got engaged here! We absolutely love Acadia and cannot recommend it enough!
Stop here for some popovers with jam! The Jordan Pond Loop is also one of our favorite walking trails in the park.
If you're willing to get up early, come here to be the first people in the country to see the sun rise! Check the Park's website for information on car passes.
Iconic peaks in Acadia with great views of Jordan Pond and the ocean beyond. Easy-moderate hike.
Great place to explore the rocky coast of Maine.
We highly recommend renting a bike and checking out the Carriage Path system. It's our favorite way to see the park. There are e-bike options which will make the experience more fun and less work! Please wear a helmet and follow the speed limits!
