House Or Rental
Airbnb have many great options with all different price ranges! Our recommendation is to always book a place that have great reviews and are rated as a super host. You are able to look at ratings and read past guests' reviews about hosts, the place itself, walking convenience to the main center of Zona Colonial, and about the surrounding neighborhood. Please take into consideration that neighborhoods in the DR vary on every corner. Even though the Airbnb looks nice in pictures, the surrounding areas may not be. Please try to stay in the central Zona Colonial area for a safe neighborhood and to stay close to our wedding ceremony and reception location for the bonus of walking and not having to depend on a taxi for transportation. Most houses provide a map of their general location before booking. Some Airbnb hosts will also provide transportation but some do not, it should state on their website. Obed is a really good friend of ours and will also be attending our wedding! He has worked in tourism and transportation for years. Obed and his team of drivers are the people we would recommend for pick up and drop off from the airport. His company also gives tours to destinations all over the Dominican Republic, these tours are listed along with his information on our page "Explore the Dominican Republic". Travel Note
Uber is an option for transportation; you will need to have the app downloaded on your phone and keep in mind to use the Uber app you must have Wi-Fi or Data on your cellphone. Some locations have Wi-Fi available including the airport. Trips to and from the airport from Zona Colonial can range between $30-40. Rush hour in Santo Domingo is 4-6pm and quite congested! Some hotels provide airport transportation; ask if it is an extra cost. If available, email or call ahead to arrange your times needed. Renting a car is another option, but driving in the DR can be crazy and congested! And remember all road signs are in Spanish. If you are comfortable with all of that, it is a great option for those who have plans to travel outside of Santo Domingo. But if you do choose this option, we suggest getting car insurance through the rental company. Once in central Zona Colonial, most places are within walking distance and you are also able to rent bikes or find a horse and buggy carriage.
