Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Alannah Willliams-Oliver and Jeffrey Garavaglia
We're so excited to share with you a few of our favorite breweries and things to do in the Monterey/Carmel area!

Carmel River State Beach

26495 Scenic Road, Carmel-by-the-Sea, CA 93923

This was where we had our first date! Needless to say, we love this beach spot, and so does Zealand! (You can see the happy boy at this beach, just at the top of page!)

Garland Ranch Regional Park

700 West Carmel Valley Road, Carmel Valley, CA 93924

We hiked the waterfall trail for a date once - it was beautiful but it kicked out butts! Alannah and Zealand hiked here often when living in Monterey.

Alvarado Street Brewery and Bistro

Mission Street &, 7th Ave Suite 112, Carmel-by-the-Sea, CA 93921

Located in Carmel Plaza, this spot offers house-brewed beers like refreshing lagers and bold IPAs, paired with California coastal cuisine. The outdoor patio is great for people-watching, and the cozy indoor space suits January’s cooler temps. They don’t take weekend reservations, so it's best to arrive early. (Also, there is another location in the heart of downtown Monterey!)

Dust Bowl Brewing Co. Tap Depot

290 Figueroa Street, Monterey, CA 93940

On Old Fisherman’s Wharf, this taproom serves up bold beers like their Hazy IPAs alongside a laid-back vibe. The waterfront location adds charm, and it’s a great stop for sampling local brews between wharf activities. There's also an outdoor beer garden with a food truck!

Fieldwork Brewing Company | Monterey

560 Munras Avenue, Monterey, CA 93940

Situated in downtown Monterey, Fieldwork is known for its rotating taps of hoppy IPAs, stouts, and lagers. It’s a casual spot you can pop into while exploring the area. (This was Alannah's favorite brewery when she lived in Monterey!)

Hidden Hills Brewing and Blending

3777 The Barnyard, Carmel-by-the-Sea, CA 93923

Situated in The Barnyard shopping area, this small-batch brewery serves 12 fresh beers made on-site, plus wine and cider options. It’s a laid-back spot where guests can enjoy a pint and unwind after wedding festivities.

Carmel Mission Basilica Museum

3080 Rio Road, Carmel-by-the-Sea, CA 93921

Located just two miles from our venue, you can take a self-guided tour of the Carmel Mission! Check out the website for more information.

Explore downtown Carmel

The fairytale-like streets of Carmel are filled with boutique shops, art galleries, hidden courtyards, and numerous wine tasting rooms. Guests can wander Ocean Avenue, pop into places like The Secret Garden bookstore, or enjoy the whimsical architecture—ideal for a relaxed afternoon. Some tasting room favorites are Caraccioli Cellars or Scheid Vineyards Tasting Room.

Monterey Bay Aquarium

886 Cannery Row, Monterey, CA 93940

A world-class attraction perfect for a January visit, with indoor exhibits showcasing sea otters, jellyfish, and the mesmerizing Kelp Forest. It’s educational, interactive, and a cozy way to spend a day—ideal if the weather turns rainy. Tickets often sell out, so we suggest booking online in advance.

17 Mile Drive Tour

2041 Del Monte Avenue, Monterey, CA 93940

This scenic drive through Pebble Beach offers breathtaking views of the Pacific, iconic landmarks like the Lone Cypress, and chances to spot wildlife. Guests can rent e-bikes for a fun twist or simply drive it themselves. It’s a great way to explore the area’s beauty at a leisurely pace.

Lovers Point

Pacific Grove, CA 93950

If you are looking to explore Monterey or Pacific Grove, this is a great spot for a walk along the coast, or some relaxation time by the beach.

Monterey State Historic Park

20 Custom House Plaza, Monterey, CA 93940

History buffs will enjoy this collection of adobe buildings and gardens, offering a glimpse into California’s Spanish and Mexican past. Free guided tours are available, and it’s a low-key, mostly outdoor activity that’s manageable even in cooler weather.

Cannery Row

Cannery Row, Monterey, CA 93940

This historic waterfront street is great for a stroll, with shops, galleries, and ocean views. Guests can explore its sardine-packing past, snap photos at the Steinbeck Plaza, or simply enjoy the salty air. It’s less crowded in January, making it a pleasant outing.
