We met online, as so many modern couples do. Carter played things close to the chest for the first couple of dates, but then decided to ask the big question: if Alanna wanted to go to DragonCon with him. She said yes, and after that weekend we knew we had something special.

Carter knew where and how he wanted to propose for almost a year. Every year, he and his GT band crew would travel to Savannah for a weekend of fun and hockey. On River Street is a certain spot - Rousakis Plaza, colloquially dubbed "the center of the universe" - where you can stand and hear your words echo back at you. On the day he proposed, Carter stood in the center with Alanna and told her he knew the perfect thing to say to someone else at the center of the universe before getting down on one knee.
