For Alex, the breaking news of the Thai King’s death upon arrival in Thailand saw a completely shut down Bangkok. Alex and his friend frantically changed their travel plans – leading them to head through Vietnam and Cambodia. Arriving in Phnom Penh to a deluge of rain, neither of them had booked a place to stay, but as fate would have it, they both ended up at the same hostel – the aptly named, Lovely Jubbly Villa. As groups of travellers mingled at the bar, the two struck up a conversation and a raucous game of Jenga. The question of who made the first move is debatable, but the immediate spark between them was unquestionable.
