So many romantic walks have started at the estuary and ended near the surf club. It is such a nice walk, stunning views of a special place. A walk at sunset is the best!
A bit of an uphill walk but totally worth it for the stunning little secret beach. An absolute favourite of ours when we first got our licenses and could drive there!
A lovely short walk through a little forest to a really big beach.
You can actually walk to Clark Island at low tide. You need to time this very well with the tide timings. If you head out from the corner near Ocean Road and Pipi Road you can walk along a sand bank (your legs will get wet) towards the island. Make sure you come back before the tide gets too high (p.s you can see the island in the background of our engagement pics).
A really beautiful beach. There is a walk just to the right of the beach to another gorgeous hidden bay we like to go to called Octopus Bay – another fave of ours!
Our favourite cafe in Whanga! Unreal brunch and coffee. Honourable mention to Six Forty Six as well (many dates happened there).
This is an Alana recommendation, but you must stop by! It is a gorgeous Lavender farm on the way to Whangamatā from Hamilton. They have a really cute shop that sells skin care products made from their own lavender – along with a cute cafe and where they sell lavender flavoured soft serve!
On the way home from Whanga it is essential to make a stop in Waihi for a little snack at the pink Waihi Bakery on Seddon road. The sandwiches are AMAZING. My personal top pick and the one I get every time is chicken and brie. Omg it's so good!
