The Wedding Website of Katherine Phillips and Alejandro Rubalcaba
We hope you enjoy your time in Madrid. Whether you're into museums, sports or discovering local cuisine and culture, Madrid has something for everyone. See below a few of our favorite things to do while visiting Madrid.

Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix

Madrid, Spain

The Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix will take place in Madrid September 11-13, 2026, at the new Madring circuit around IFEMA. It's a major international sporting event with racing all weekend long. Tickets and events vary; many public viewing and hospitality options will likely appear closer to the weekend.

El Retiro Park

In the Liria Palace, you can experience the history of one of the most distinguished lineages in Spain through a unique personal collection of documents, paintings, sculptures, tapestries and other works that are preserved in it.

Museo Nacional del Prado

One of the world's great art museums, with masterpieces by Velazquez, Goya, El Greco and more.

Plaza Mayor & Puerta del Sol

Madrid, Spain

Historic squares ideal for photos, casual tapas and people watching. Must-see spots but beware of tourist traps in this area (the squares are best for drinks and tapas only). Some of our favorite spots in the area include Mesón del Champiñón for mushrooms and Casa Labra for cod tapas.

Mercado de San Miguel

Plaza de San Miguel, Madrid, 28005, Spain

Tapas treasures in a lively market near Plaza Mayor.

Chocolatería San Ginés

Pasadizo de San Ginés, 5, Madrid, 28013, Spain

A must do while in Madrid - churros! This is a famous sweet treat spot, open early for a sweet breakfast or late for those who want a post-dinner dessert.

Tablao de la Villa

Calle de Torija, 7, Madrid, 28013, Spain

While Madrid is not the home of flamenco, a live flamenco show here is worth the visit.

Estadio Santiago Bernabéu

Avenida de Concha Espina, 1, Madrid, 28036, Spain

If you are a football (soccer) fan, catching a Real Madrid game at Santiago Bernabéu Stadium is an unforgettable experience. Exact kick-off times are usually confirmed a month or two before the match, so keep an eye out ahead of your trip to Madrid. Tickets can be purchased through the official Real Madrid website once schedules are finalized.

Temple of Debod

Calle de Ferraz, 1, Madrid, 28008, Spain

A second-century Egyptian temple offering stunning sunset views.

Toledo

Toledo, Spain

If you are thinking about extending your stay or looking for a change of pace, a daytrip to Toledo (approximately 30-35 minutes from Madrid) might be a great option. Explore medieval streets, the Toledo Cathedral and historic synagogues. You can either take the train yourself (and explore the city at your own pace) or book one of the many guided tours.

Segovia

Segovia, Spain

Segovia (approximately 45 minutes from Madrid) is another great option for a daytrip if you are looking to explore outside of Madrid. Visit the famous Roman aqueduct and Medieval castle, and don't forget to try the local specialty, cochinillo asado (roast pig). You can either take the train yourself (and explore the city at your own pace) or book one of the many guided tours.
