Question

Where are the ceremony and reception taking place?

Answer

The ceremony will be held at Basílica de la Asunción de Nuestra Señora in Colmenar Viejo, and the reception will be held at Palacio de la Margarita in Collado Villalba. Both places are an approximately 30-minute drive from downtown Madrid nestled between the beautiful Parque Regional de la Cuenca Alta del Manzanares. The ceremony will be inside the Basilica, and the reception will be held outside in the Palace courtyard and gardens with plenty of space indoors in case of inclement weather.

Question

Answer

Question

Will transportation be provided?

Answer

On the wedding day, we will provide transportation to and from the ceremony and reception. We will have a shuttle from the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu in central Madrid (exact pick-up spot at the stadium to be confirmed later) to the ceremony, from the ceremony to the reception and then from the reception back to the ceremony location in Colmenar Viejo and the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu in central Madrid. Once the shuttle drops you off at the end of the night, rideshare (e.g., Uber) or taxi will be easily accessible, and walking is a safe option, to take you back to your specific accommodations. If you prefer to drive, there is street parking near the Basilica and a parking lot at the reception. Rideshare (e.g., Uber) is also available and should be able to drop off and pick up at the ceremony and reception locations. However, please note that wait times for rideshare pick up from the ceremony and reception locations may be lengthy as you will be outside central Madrid.

Question

En Español: Se proporcionará transporte?

Answer

Question

Is there a hotel block?

Answer

Due to other events taking place in Madrid during our wedding week, we have not been able to secure a hotel block at this time. However, there are plenty of great hotel, Airbnb and VRBO options available. Please see the "Travel" page for our recommendations.

Question

Answer

Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

We'd love to see our family and friends dress up with us! Formal wear is requested. Formal wear for gentlemen includes a jacket and tie or traditional suit. For women, floor length dresses are recommended. As a reminder, the ceremony will be held inside the Basilica and the reception will mainly be held outside. The weather in Madrid in September can be hot during the day and cool at night, so keep that in mind when planning your outfit.

Question

Answer

Question

Are children allowed at the wedding?

Answer

We have chosen to make our special day an adults-only celebration to ensure all guests, especially parents, can fully immerse themselves in the joy of the occasion. We hope this advance notice means you are still able to join us for our big day! Your understanding means the world to us, and we can't wait to celebrate with you.

Question

Answer

Question

Can I bring a guest?

Answer

As we are trying to keep our special day as intimate as possible, we are only able to accommodate guests formally invited on your wedding invitation. If you have received a plus one, then they will be on your invite when you RSVP.

Question

En Español: Puedo llevar a un acompañante?

Answer

Question

What can I expect when I visit Madrid?

Answer

Madrid is a vibrant, welcoming city that blends historic charm with modern energy. You can expect beautiful architecture, lively plazas, world-class art museums, and an amazing food scene - from casual tapas bars to fine dining. Life moves at a slightly later pace than in the U.S., so expect lunch to start between 2 PM - 4 PM (focused on larger more fulfilling meals (e.g., menu del dia is a great option)) and dinner to start between 8 PM - 10 PM (focused on smaller tapas style meals for the table to share). Walking is a big part of daily life, and public transportation is clean, safe, and easy to use. While Spanish is the primary language, many people in central Madrid speak some English, and locals are generally friendly and helpful. For our American friends and family, at restaurants, expect to waive down your waiter for service and tipping a few euros on nicer meals is appreciated and not required for casual dining. You can also always ask for a carafe of tap water (which is free and safe to drink anywhere) or bottled water at a nicer restaurant. At casual bars, you can also expect to receive a small snack (e.g., chips or olives) for free with every drink you purchase (this is the typical Spanish way to enjoy a drink and should not be missed!).
