Her Story

7.26.2016

A lot of my story begins before I even met Olumide in person. I had a friend mention to me that she had a dream that she was taking pictures at my wedding. At the time, I was very single and had been for over a year and was really focused on growing in Christ. Some months later I had a dream that I was being led by a yoruba man. Now "how did I know said man was yoruba?" you might ask, seeing that I am by no means Nigerian (don't let the last name fool you). I knew based off of his traditional attire, agbada, fila and all, but in this dream I could not see the gentlemen's face. Shortly after that Mide, added me on facebook. Now, we had numerous mutual friends including staff members at our church and I was certain that I may have met him before, but still I waited. Probably about a month before I accepted his friend request on social media and after that... nothing happened. We never chatted, communicated or anything. About three months later, in July of 2016 I was standing in the chapel of Victory World Church talking to a friend when Mide walks in. We had a brief conversation where he thinks i'm Nigerian, I had to let him know I am Ghanaian and we talked jollof etc. The next week at church, as he was looking for my friend to deliver a nice serving of jollof and Chicken, we crossed paths. She was busy and not able to attend service that evening so he gave me the jollof to deliver. I may of had a little bit for myself... and the rest is shall we say HERstory.

His Story

07.26.2016

I met Noreen at a point in my life when I was fed up with approaching relationships the wrong way and I decided to go on a self-imposed hiatus. My relationship with God was also taking a different dimension. It was the first night of the Fall season of Fusion (the Young Adults Ministry at our Church) when as I was catching up with a Friend (Candace M), who I hadn't seen in a while, Noreen walked up and INTERRUPTED our conversation. I guess she saw something she liked and decided to come to check it out. I immediately recognized her because months prior, I had added her on Facebook (we had several mutual friends and she had a familiar last name). We proceeded to have a brief conversation (including being Nigerian & Jollof).   Several encounters later, I began to ponder about the implication of our continued interaction. Remember, I was supposed to be on a relationship hiatus, and this was beginning to have a semblance of what could lead in that direction. I began to intentionally seek God about her. I remember hearing vividly from God that I should just get to know her, no harm in doing that right? I agreed and decided to get to know her.   I had the full revelation of who Noreen was going to be in my life after we spoke about our individual PASSION and VISION. It clicked right away. She spoke about how she had a heart for her contemporaries (mainly cousins) back in the motherland, and how she wants to present a lifestyle alternative to them, especially with respect to Faith. My mind was blown. She also seemed to have foreknowledge of several ambitions and aspirations of mine even before I told her. I was so sure after this conversation that God had revealed much about me to her.   After months of deliberations, intentional seeking wise counsel, praying and fasting, we decided to begin the journey into courtship and with that, my hiatus was short-lived (to God's Glory). This is HIStory!

The Proposal

12.12.2017

It was again, a Tuesday night. The last Fusion service of 2017, and things were going on as normal. Noreen had begun to connect some dots and thought, how perfect tonight would be for Mide to propose, but he managed to get her off his trail by ensuring her that the ring had not even shown up yet. So Fusion takes place as normal, but at the end there was a "raffle" for a small group leader to win a gift card for their small group. Shockingly, Noreen's name is pulled and she heads up to the stage. As she stands on the stage, a video begins to play and it is not until about half way through the video that she realizes what exactly is happening. She sees Mide come out on to the stage and her friends and family soon follow as he gets down on one knee and asks her to marry him!
