Hannah and Ajay met on Halloween 2019 through a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend. I know, sounds confusing, but it was definitely easier than online dating apps. Hannah was dressed as the sun (aka gold glitter), matched with her maid of honor Emily, dressed as the moon (aka silver glitter). Ajay was dressed as a boxer (it's just normal clothes + a boxing robe, so easy even he could do it). Hannah had only lived in NYC for a few months, and with her crazy work schedule as a resident, she didn't have much time to date. So when she saw Ajay with her friends, she thought "He's a cute person, in person! I've gotta go for it!" They spent the night talking and dancing, and as Hannah will attest, she made the first move and had to really nudge him to ask for her number before she left. Ajay will disagree and say he was going to ask for her number before she left anyway, but he's learned it's better to not disagree with his future wife. A few days later, they had their first official date at The Penrose on the Upper East Side, and it was off to the races dating. Until COVID hit, just a few months into the new relationship, which quickly became long-distance with Ajay moving back home to Florida for 3 months. But with daily texts, lots of facetimes and Zooms, and Hannah adopting a cat (Bonobo) to be her stand-in boyfriend until Ajay could return, their socially distanced relationship continued to thrive. Now nearly 5 years later, they have lived together for 2 years, become travel buddies all over the US and internationally, and successfully co-parented Bonobo (though Ajay is really both a brother and a father figure to him). With years of adventure to look forward to (as well as adding a few dogs to the mix), they are both incredibly excited to celebrate their upcoming wedding with all of their loved ones!
