The date was Friday October 24, 2014. A.J. and I met in college at a date function... we both went with other dates but spent almost the whole night together (oops). Months later we were at another party where the two of us ended up talking until the wee hours of the morning about everything from our shared middle-child experiences to our go-to catch phrases. I don't remember everything we said, but I'll never forget how much I smiled that night and every day since.

It seems silly that I was so nervous to ask Brooke to marry me even though we both knew the answer was going to be yes… but how could I not be anxious/excited when I’ve basically been planning this moment since the day we met? I had the perfect plan: we went out with her friends for a nice Sunday brunch followed by a walk to our favorite spot in Central Park. I got down on one knee to pop the question and she was totally surprised… at least that’s what she tells me. We ended the evening Facetiming loved ones and toasting with pizza and champagne in our tiny apartment. And it really was the perfect day.
