The very first time we met, Aivi was coming home from her stint in Australia. She was flying through San Francisco, conveniently on Skylar's birthday weekend. We had drinks in an apartment, to then take a party bus to none other than... Dave & Busters!! Brian scored an invite to this birthday party by being a super fun and funny co-worker of Skylar's. One could say that Skylar is the sole reason why we are here today, but we like to think it was fate. Over this next year Aivi would see Brian whenever she would visit SF and even partook in some Zoom happy hours together during peak pandemic. Aivi moved to San Francisco during June 2020, the pandemic was in full swing, bars and restaurants were take-out only, social distancing at the grocery stores, masks required everywhere and our friend circles were small(ish). All we had were parks, board games, and each other. We initially started hanging out as friends but it quickly became more than that. We got to know each other much better and faster than we ever could have had there not been a lock down. We built a big community in SF. Remember that apartment that we had drinks in before Skylar's birthday on the first day we met? That very same building is where we first moved in together. The building had friends in multiple different units, yes, just like the TV show, Friends. We called it "The Dorms". We spent our time going to farmers markets on the weekends, golfing around the bay area, going to sporting events & concerts, wine tasting in Sonoma & Napa, and trying as many restaurants as humanly & fiscally possible. Brian proposed in September 2025 at a winery in Calistoga, California. Later that night, we surprised everyone at our going-away party with the engagement, turning what was meant to be an end-of-an-era gathering into the start of a new chapter. And of course the night ended with our friends surprising us with a party bus to drive around the city!! Brian & Aivi are now living in the PNW and looking forward to setting down some roots in the Seattle area in 2026. And of course to get married!! We can't wait to see you all and to see what this next chapter will bring! <3
