How we Met

2.14.15

We met briefly after a party in college to celebrate homecoming in 2014. It just so happened that the party was in James' dorm room, but we didn't even meet each other that night. Luckily James' sister Katie was roommates with a few girls that I went to high school with and we all became fast friends. It wasn't until that winter that I really started spending time with him. I would ask friends to check me into their dorm to hang out with the girls while the boys played video games, but in reality it was so I could spend time with him. We really hit it off early in 2015 after helping me find my phone that was lost during a blizzard on Super Bowl Sunday. And it became official on Valentines Day 2015, after he gave me a bouquet of flowers from the Ag student flower sale.

The Proposal

12.25.19

James really must like easy dates to remember! He proposed on Christmas 2019. We had talked about marriage a few times over the 4 years we had been together but we were waiting for the right time to make it official. I was packaging up a loaf of banana bread I had made earlier in the day, when he told me there was one more present. He then proceeded to get down on one knee behind me as I stood at the stove. I saw his reflection in the microwave and my first reaction was to tell him "Jim stand up!" He asked me to turn around and at that point I covered my face with the kitchen towel as I started to cry. Obviously I said yes, but truthfully I don't think I actually looked at the ring for about three minutes because I was crying behind a kitchen towel.
