Answer

Traditional Indian or Western formal wear is preferred. Indian wear for women: saree, lehenga, anarkali, salwar, gown Indian wear for men: fancy kurta, sherwani, suit/jacket Pro-tip: shopping for Indian clothes in India is significantly less expensive than in the U.S. or Canada, so if you can book your travel accordingly to allow for an extra day of shopping, it would be worthwhile!

How do I get around the city?

Answer

The best way is by rideshare service or booking a private car with a driver. Common rideshare services include Ola, Rapido, or Uber. Autorickshaws (autos) are also a reasonable mode of transportation, but they are open-air. Buses and trains can be crowded. Given ambient levels of pollution, consider wearing a face mask for your protection.
