Aishat spent one miserable week on the bumble dating app shortly after her move to Baltimore for internal medicine residency at Johns Hopkins. She went on one horrible date with a Nigerian (Igbo) man who claimed that she was his wife immediately. Never the less, he was ghosted. She met Nicholas on the day that she decided to delete her bumble account. He responded with kind words and seemed engaging. Aishat mentioned that she had decided to delete bumble but was willing to give him her phone number instead which surprised Nick but he played along. Unlike Aishat, Nick had sifted through many dates on bumble without finding the right girl. They went on their first date about a few weeks later at Baltimore's Clavel.
