The answer is some food is included. Kathee and Jim have provided several meals (see the Schedule for details) and the bride and groom will provide dinner the evening you arrive as well as all of your food on the day of the wedding. The rest will be up to you to procure.
June 18th through June 25th (Saturday through Saturday)
On the summer solstice: Tuesday June 21, 2022, . The ceremony will be at the Villa Le Chiarne.
You can find the Villa via this link. https://www.emmavillas.com/en/countryside-villas/tuscany/villa-le-chiarne-22/details.aspx or for those who can navigate Google Earth, type in these coordinates. 43°18'20.0"N 11°33'32.7"E. The villa website is user friendly and most of your location questions can be answered there. But if you need additional help, we are available to help.
No, we are unable to cover flight costs for our guests.
The villa is approximately 16 miles east of Siena. You can take a train, bus, or cab to Siena from any of the big cities you fly into (Pisa, Florence, Rome), but to get to the villa it might be easier to rent a car. It is a country setting and while a cab or uber could get you there, it might be more expensive than renting and you'll be without a vehicle during your stay. Excursions are planned and anyone is welcome to join any that we plan, but keep in mind, if you want control of your trip, car rental is the best option. We will have limited availability to pick up people from Siena, but if that is your only option, let us know and we'll do our best to coordinate.
We are in central Tuscany. There are numerous wineries, historical places to visit, spas, shops, restaurants, etc. This is Italy man! There is so much to do and aside from the day of the ceremony (September 30), we encourage everyone to come and go as they please. We are researching some activities that include tours of wineries, village tours, biking trips and hikes. All are welcome to join us, but those who are looking for more of an relaxation trip can stay close to the villa and soak up the beautiful countryside. For information on excursions check out the website www.viator.com or look at the things to do page. We will continue to update this page too as we learn more about the region so please continue to check back frequently.
Please ask Kathee Neary as she is our liaison in the spice arena. We have learned that olive oil isn't available in the entire country of Italy, so you will just have to make due (j/k). As for wine, we've been unable to verify the existence of this elusive substance anywhere in the Tuscany region.
We're glad you asked. The following website has some tips to consider. https://www.walksofitaly.com/blog/travel-tips/drive-in-italy
My research on this has uncovered some interesting things. Unfortunately it does not appear the road signs are in English. I am attaching a link to a cool website that explains a lot of the basic signs you need to know if you do plan to drive. There are some funky looking ones. Hey....at least they drive on the same side of the road right? https://italyexplained.com/driving-road-signs-italy/
