We met in college, Frostburg State University. I was a Sophomore and he was a Freshmen. It was a chilly November night, I had just finished up softball practice and was coming to meet my friend in the Lane Center (place for food and hangout) while he was working on a group project and eating dinner with some of his group members. Long story short, Patrick was one of those group members, so we met through a mutual friend. Patrick's favorite part about how we met is that when he met me I was eating Taco Bell for dinner, which if you know me, it's my favorite! From that day on, we were constantly talking and hanging out, which eventually lead to something special :)
It was Halloween weekend and our families planned a camping trip to Jellystone Campground in Quarryville, PA. Both families and even some extended family attended. Since it was our first year with everyone camping together, they had decided on a "family" picture by the corn maze field on Saturday morning. Little did I know that this was planned for my proposal. It was an early 9-10am "family" picture and everyone knows I don't do mornings. I woke up, threw on a t-shirt, sweatpants and a hoodie. I was getting "yelled" at by my future-in-laws to wear something nicer, I really didn't want to! So I changed into yoga pants, still kept on the t-shirt and hoodie. We make our way up to the corn field for my Mom to realize she had forgotten the camera, so I had to take the golf cart back to the RV to grab the camera. Meanwhile, the rest of the family was getting set up for the photo. When we got back, there were blankets laid out on the ground for our families to be on, and there were pumpkins that said "Happy Halloween!" I thought it was so cute for a family picture. So we get the cameras set up on the timers and Patrick and I were in charge of setting the timer up each time before the pictures. This took place about 3 times and then Patrick told me to "go check the picture." The family behind us had turned the pumpkins around and they said "Will You Marry Me?" Once I read the pumpkins, that's when Patrick approached me, got on one knee and asked me if I would marry him. Of course I said "yes!" To this day, it was the best day of my life!
Please keep our ceremony camera-free, we've hired professionals to capture our day. So please let us be the first to share pics as the new Mr. and Mrs. Waugh. Though our I Do's are unplugged our reception is not, once we finish our first dance, you're free to take a shot.
