A tale as old as time, the cliché office romance…but better! It was a cool fall day, outside the greatest building in all of New York City - Morgan Stanley Headquarters. Weeks of anticipation led to this moment, preceded by incessant skype messages, emojis (work appropriate of course, hi compliance!) and random phone questions that could have been e-mails. But alas, I relented and convinced Amanda to visit NYC for a good weekend out on the city, promising adventure and grandeur. Little did Amanda know, that meant a six-floor walkup apartment, multiple dive bars and a full pizza at 3AM. In all seriousness, that is how I knew Amanda was the one; she did not flinch (that much) at the six-floor walkup/bachelor pad or our taxi adventures to all the dive bars that weekend. We genuinely enjoyed each other’s company; so much so that for the next 5 months we would take turns schlepping up and down I-95 on a bus/train/car just to spend more time with each other. This eventually led to Amanda making the big move from the salty Balty back to the big apple, the electric city, the city that never sleeps, NYC! From there the rest is history: from boozy brunches, morning SoulCycle classes, weekend date nights, moving in together in Hoboken, acquiring the Nugget and eventually….the big kahuna.
SHE SAID YES! Almost four years to the date from when we first met, Jonathan proposed on the Hoboken waterfront overlooking the city where we first met. The weather could not have been more perfect, with the sun just setting over the skyline as Jonathan bent down on one knee to ask Amanda to marry him. We still are not sure what Amanda was more surprised by, (1) the fact that Jonathan kept the proposal a secret for as long as he did, (2) how he was able to coordinate the time and location with the photographer (thanks Lizzie!) and (3) plan a surprise celebration with our closest friends and family during the midst of a pandemic; talk about a keeper!
