Travel & Accommodations

The Wedding Website of Adriana Barricelli and Tyler Moston
Below you’ll find helpful information on airports, train routes, and hotel options to make planning your trip as smooth as possible. We recommend staying in the town of Pienza, a charming hilltop village in the heart of Tuscany known for its stunning Val d’Orcia views, cobblestone streets, and cozy cafés. The wedding shuttle will pick up and drop off guests directly in town, so feel free to choose any hotel or B&B within Pienza that best fits your style and budget. We’ve included a few suggested properties below, but there are many more great options available so you’re welcome to explore and book what works best for you. Shuttle service for all events will be based in Pienza, with pick-up and drop-off at: Via Enzo Mangiavacchi, 21. We recommend staying nearby for convenience.

Airports

Florence Airport is closest to Val d’Orcia, about a 1.5-hour drive through Tuscany. Car rentals are available, or take a train to Chiusi or Montepulciano, then a taxi. Rome’s Fiumicino Airport offers more flights and is about 2.5 hours away. You can also take a train from Rome Termini to Chiusi, then a taxi to your destination.

Rental Car

Rental Car

We highly recommend renting a car to explore Tuscany. Rentals are available at Florence Airport (1.5 hrs to Val d’Orcia) and Rome Fiumicino (2.5 hrs). Major companies like Hertz, Europcar, and Avis operate at both. Book an automatic in advance and bring an International Driving Permit, available through your local AAA for $20.

Trains

From Florence: Take a taxi or shuttle to Florence’s Santa Maria Novella station. From there, board a train to Chiusi-Chianciano Terme (~1.5–2 hours). From Rome: Take the Leonardo Express from Fiumicino Airport to Roma Termini, then a train to Chiusi-Chianciano Terme (~1.5–2 hours). From Chiusi: Taxis can take you to your hotel/villa (~30 minutes). Passports

Please be sure to check your passport — Italy requires it to be valid for at least 3 months beyond your return date and issued within the last 10 years. Please note that some other European and non-Schengen countries require up to 6 months of passport validity. If you plan to travel beyond Italy, we recommend ensuring your passport is valid for at least 6 months to avoid any issues.

Tips

Renting a Car: The easiest way to explore Tuscany at your own pace. Roads are scenic and well-marked. They drive on the same side of the road! Book Ahead: Reserve trains and airport transfers in advance, especially during peak travel months. Pack Light: Many Tuscan towns have cobblestone streets and limited parking—rolling smaller suitcases is easier. Allow Extra Time: Italian trains are generally punctual, but give yourself wiggle room when traveling for events.
