When should I book my travel?

Answer

We recommend booking flights and accommodations early, as summer is a popular time in Italy.

Which airport should I fly into?

Answer

Florence Airport (about 1.5 hours from Val d’Orcia) and Rome Fiumicino (about 2.5 hours) are the closest major airports. Rome typically has more international flight options.

Do I need a car?

Answer

Renting a car is the easiest way to explore the region at your own pace. Be sure to book an automatic in advance and bring an International Driving Permit (available through your local AAA). We’ll also have shuttles arranged for all wedding events, so guests without cars will still be able to get around easily.

Where should I stay?

Answer

We recommend staying in the town of Pienza for the most convenient access to events and wedding transportation. Shuttle service for all events will be located at Via Enzo Mangiavacchi, 21. Please visit the Travel section for hotel and accommodation details.

Yes, we’ll have a shuttle for guests staying in Pienza, with pick-up and drop-off at Via Enzo Mangiavacchi, 21. We recommend staying nearby for convenience.

What is the dress code?

Welcome Party: Tuscan Casual Chic Relaxed and stylish. Think sundresses, linen, comfortable yet polished looks, and flat or low-heeled shoes. Wedding: Garden Party Formal Elegant attire for a stylish outdoor celebration. Consider flowing dresses or refined midi/maxi lengths, tailored suits in any color you like, and dressy yet comfortable shoes. Are there any other events that I should know about around the wedding?

Answer

Yes! We have a couple of fun gatherings planned around the wedding: August 3rd: Join us for a Welcome Party, a warm “Welcome to Italy!” to kick things off. August 5th: We’ll wrap things up with a poolside brunch, where we can say our goodbyes, relax, and soak up the Tuscan sun together. Following the pool party, we’ll head into Pienza for dinner at Ristorante la Terrazza della Val d'Orcia. If you’d like to join us, dinner will be €80 per person for a seated prix-fixe meal, starting with a standing aperitivo. This will be at guests’ own expense.

When should I arrive?

Answer

If you’re starting your trip with the wedding, we recommend arriving in Italy by Sunday. This allows you a full day to settle in, relax, and adjust to the time change before joining us for the welcome party on Monday evening.

What’s the weather like?

Answer

Early August is typically warm and sunny, with daytime temperatures around the mid-80s °F and evenings cooling down into the 60s °F. We recommend light, breathable clothing and sun protection during the day, and bringing a light layer for nighttime events.
