Travel Note
The first option to get to Martha's Vineyard (and Chris and my favorite!) is to take the Steamship Authority Ferry from Cape Cod to the island. You will need to get to the Steamship Authority Ferry dock in Woods Hole, MA. Boats leave from Woods Hole roughly hourly from 6am until 9:45 pm, arriving in either Oak Bluffs or Vineyard Haven. Either arrival port will get you to the Vineyard. The ferry schedule is at www.steamshipauthority.com/schedules. Ways to get to the Steamship Authority Ferry: ● BUS: You can take a Peter Pan bus (preferred and most cost effective option) or Plymouth and Brockton bus from Boston Logan airport or Boston South Station right to the ferry dock (destination: Woods Hole, MA). The ride is about 2 hours from Boston. Book Peter Pan tickets here: www.peterpanbus.com. If you chose this option (and plan to go on island without a car), you can purchase your ferry ticket right at the Steamship Authority counter and get on the ferry, no reservation needed. ● TAKING CAR ON ISLAND: You can plan to bring your car (or rental car) to the island but note you will need to reserve a spot on the ferry beforehand through the Steamship Authority (www.steamshipauthority.com/schedules/availability), scheduling a car reservation for the dates and times of your travel. If you chose this option we recommend you should make your reservations *as soon as possible*, as car reservations can sell out. Note the cost for the car reservation will be around $140 each way (but cheaper than a 3-day rental car on the Island). ● DRIVING BUT NOT TAKING CAR ON ISLAND: If you plan to drive down to the Steamship Authority ferry dock, but would like to leave your car in Cape Cod, please note, there is no parking at the ferry dock. You will need to park your car at 286 Palmer Avenue, Falmouth, MA 02540 and take the shuttle bus directly to the ferry dock.
Flight
The second (more expensive but convenient) option to get on island is to fly directly into Martha's Vineyard Airport (MVY), typically through Boston Logan International Airport (BOS). Cape Air, Jet Blue, Delta and American Airlines all fly to Martha's Vineyard. Note, if you are flying Cape Air or Jet Blue, these airlines live in a separate terminal in Boston Logan that are a bit of a walk from other airlines, so make sure your layover isn't too tight!
Hotel
Whether you are looking for a hotel, airbnb or rental, we recommend you aim to look for spots around Vineyard Haven, the MV town which is closest to the reception location in West Chop (about a 15 minute bike ride from West Chop).
