Question
I want to attend, but I cannot. Now what?
Answer
Totally fair!! We understand that what we're asking is a lot, both cost and time-wise. If you're unable to attend, that's perfectly understandable. Please let Maddie know - you being part of the start of our marriage is very important, and as such, we'd love to include you by sending you a "wedding in a box" so you can help us ring in our new family from home! Additionally, we will be having a larger, much more celebration of our wedding in 2026 (think "come and go barbecue and beer with music and lawn games" type of vibe). You are absolutely invited to this celebration and we will be sending more information about this as it gets closer!

Answer
We are registered - with an asterisk! As we will be having a larger casual celebration of our wedding in 2026, we are registered for that purpose. We ask that if you plan to attend our Italian holiday, please do NOT purchase any wedding gifts for the couple: we recognize the financial and time burden required to celebrate with us, and your presence is the best present we could ask for!

Do you have any hotel recommendations?
Answer
You do NOT need to make any lodging accommodations for your time in Italy! The entire group will be staying at either at the villa or a local nearby inn that we will book, where there are private bedrooms and bathrooms for each party.

Are you having a wedding party?
Answer
We are not! We are prioritizing the joining of our families to celebrate, and are foregoing having a traditional wedding party with bridesmaids and groomsmen. Because of this, any logistics questions should be directed at Maddie!

Okay, but... WHY aren't you having a wedding party..?
Answer
Great question - both of our jobs (Travis in the army and Maddie in academia) are highly transient, requiring moving (and new friends!) every few years. For this reason, the friends we've made are spread across the country and the world. While we love our friends deeply, we felt it would be too big an ask to aggregate such an international wedding party, especially when many work within inflexible systems, including the army, veterinary medicine, and veterinary internships/residencies!

I want to attend the Italian holiday, but I can't be there the whole time. Now what?
Answer
For sure! We'd love to have you celebrate with us for any part of our time! Our ceremony itself will be on Tuesday, May 27, so we recommend prioritizing being in country for this day, but there are no rules! Regardless, please plan to send your travel plans to Maddie - things like daily meals and our day trip will be predicated upon the number of people in the villa. If you send Maddie your itinerary, we can also arrange a shuttle to and from the airport for you!
