It all started in 2022… on a dating app made for Black people who love Black people — shoutout to BLK, where swiping right led to everything right. We matched, chatted, and within a month, met in person for a weekend that can only be described as 50 First Dates: a tequila bar that definitely tested our liver strength, an escape room that tested our teamwork, and a fall carnival that sealed the deal with laughter and late-night funnel cake. I knew he was the one when we talked for 12 hours straight and it felt like five minutes. He said it was kismet — a soul-refreshing connection that felt like a breath of peace. From the jump, we could debate for hours (spoiler: we still do) — especially about cars. Sports cars, luxury sedans, lifted trucks… he had strong opinions. So did I. But somewhere between “Who needs that much torque?” and “That car is not practical for children,” we fell in love. On November 2nd, he asked me to be his girlfriend. Of course, I said yes. We were married on September 13th, 2023 in a private, quick ceremony — the kind of blink-and-you-miss-it moment that didn’t leave room for vows, matching outfits, or slow motion walks down the aisle. What followed was real life: deployments, TDYs, big emotions, small arguments, chaos, deep love, and a bond that refused to break. We’ve faced what many couples don't in a decade — and we’ve come out stronger. Now, as we head into Year Three, we’re doing it our way — The Washington Way. We’re finally exchanging our vows, telling our story the way it deserves to be told, and celebrating with love, laughter, and memories that will last forever. Thanks for witnessing this chapter. The best is still ahead. 💍✨
