There is a discounted hotel block for rooms here. Heads up that most of the rooms contain just a king sized bed. There are only 4 kid friendly rooms in the hotel. Hotel
This is our other recommended hotel in the neighborhood. It is higher end and is priced accordingly. We do not have a discounted block here, but recommend it for guests who want to splurge, as well as for families if there are no more child friendly rooms at Moxy.
Flight
This is the recommended airport for the wedding. If there are not flights available here from your home then we recommend SFO as a second choice, and SJC as a distant third choice. It will be a much longer trip from either of those airports.
Travel Note
Every event for the wedding will be in walking distance of the recommended hotels, and both recommended airports are public transit accessible, so if you have the option not to drive, we recommend it! However, if you are driving, here is some information about parking. We recently confirmed that the Kissel hotel (2455 Broadway), one of our recommended hotels, offers paid valet parking within their secure building even if you are not staying there. It's $10 per hour or $52 overnight/max. If you plan on staying in the area overnight, it's likely the safest place to leave your car. Some other options include garages, lots, or street parking: YMCA lot (recommended next most secure choice) - This garage is directly across the street from the venue (1 minute walk) and has a gate that closes after hours. Enter at 2353 Webster. $6 per hour or $25 max on weekdays, and $10 flat rate for on Saturdays and Sundays. Overnight parking is ok. Vehicles can't enter past 10 pm, but you can access your vehicle to exit 24/7. Parking right at "The Hive" (geographically closest) - This is an uncovered lot that is right at the venue. 2335 Broadway, enter on 24th Street. $35 flat rate for the day or $10 an hour. Best choice for proximity. No overnight. There are also multiple more uncovered lots with reasonable rates. We want to emphasize that in Downtown Oakland, where we live, property crime is high and other kinds of crime are low. To reduce risk, we recommend not leaving anything visible in your car, and not putting anything in your trunk then walking away. If you have out-of-state plates, a rental car, or a highly valuable car, we recommend parking at Kissel's secure garage to be on the safe side. Otherwise, street/lot parking is likely to be fine. If you choose to use street parking then you are choosing to take a risk with your property, but we can't stress enough that you will be safe walking around our neighborhood.
