Things To Do

Here are some fun things to do, see, and eat while on Kauai! Also, please see the FAQ section where I will post some additional info!

ABC Stores #59

3416 Rice Street, Lihue, HI 96766

You will see ABC Stores all over every island you go to. This a great one-stop-shop for anything you may have forgot to pack, snacks, and souvenirs. Might I recommend an inflatable to lounge around in the ocean/pool?

Puka Dog Hawaiian Style Hot Dogs

2100 Hoone Road, Koloa, HI 96756

This Hawaiian style hot dog with a variety of sauces and tropical salsas is my favorite snack on Kauai.

Poipu Beach

Koloa, HI 96756

Located right across the street from Puka Dog, this beautiful beach has a fun sand bar and lots of fish swimming around you.

Spouting Horn

HI 96756

Also in the area of Poipu and Puka, this is a cool water spout my family and I would go and watch usually after grabbing dinner in the area.

Kalalau Lookout

Kokee Road, Kapaʻa, HI 96746

This is the beginning of the Napali Coast and my mom's favorite view on all of Kauai, it overlooks the Kalalau Valley which used to be inhabited by Native Hawaiians. This area also hosts many trail heads for all you avid hikers out there. Hint: Check radar for cloud coverage prior to making the drive because at 4,000 feet sometimes you're inside a cloud and won't be able to enjoy the view.

Waimea Canyon Lookout

Waimea, HI 96796

On the same road to the Kalalau Lookout is the Waimea Canyon, a mini Grand Canyon if you will. There is a one-time car/person fee to stop at all the lookouts along the way and enjoy the breathtaking views. Keep in mind the temperature can be 20 degrees cooler up here.

Kauai Backcountry Adventures

3-4131 Kuhio Highway, Lihue, HI 96766

If zip lining and mountain tubing sound like your speed then look no further! I've always wanted to try the mountain tubing adventure where you don a helmet and water shoes and ride an inner tube through an old sugar cane plantation's irrigation system. Everyone I know who's done this tour has said it is an absolute must!

Nā Pali Coast State Wilderness Park

HI

The Napali Coast runs for 15 miles along the west to north shore of Kauai. It is best viewed by helicopter or boat, and there are many tour companies to be found that can take you on either.

Kīlauea Lighthouse

3580 Kilauea Road, Kilauea, HI 96754

This is a lighthouse and wildlife refuge with beautiful views. Note: They are only open Wed-Sat and you need to make a reservation.

Princeville Makai Golf Club

4080 Lei O Papa Road, Princeville, HI 96722

There's several golf courses on Kauai, but this is the only one I've been to in person and it has beautiful views of the north shore end of the Napali Cliffs and the ocean.

Mauka Disc Golf

4080 Lei O Papa Road, Princeville, HI 96722

Remember when I said I've been to Makai Golf Club, it was actually to play this disc golf course! There are several spots for disc golf on the island, just check UDisc!
