All the animals are hand carved by a local resident. It's full of joy, and laughter, and all things good. Also, it's only $3/ride, so that's a win! And, if you're thinking "Bah humbug, I don't have kids, why would I ride a carousel?" Becaaaaauuuuuse, you goose, you are one of our people, and therefore the kind of grownup who rides carousels with or without children!!! Also, it will absolutely make you smile. The Carousel has many accessibility accomodations available: wheelchair ramps/wheelchair friendly animals, muffs to make it sensory friendly, etc. No ASL interpreters on staff, but if you want to go, I got you! Just tell them (or me) what you need when you get there, and they will help you out.
So...Colorado is pretty naturey. Mostly you can just walk out the door wherever you end up sleeping, and find a good hike waiting for your feet. Honestly, most of the publicly mapped and advertised trails require permits (Reserve now! They fill up fast and early!), and/or a shuttle to get there. Here are a few public treasures: Rainbow Lakes: https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/arp/recarea/?recid=28324 Brainard Lake: https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/arp/recarea/?recid=28182 Caribou Open Space: https://bouldercounty.gov/open-space/parks-and-trails/caribou-ranch/ If you want to go a bit more feral, ask Adam or Eric for suggestions!
