In January 2024, Melissa spent a month in Breckenridge with her friend Shark, working in the mornings and snowboarding in the afternoons. Around the same time, Adam and his friends had planned a ski trip over MLK Day weekend. Fate brought them together at T-Bar on Peak 8, where they shared a quick lunch and an hour-long conversation before heading off to enjoy the slopes with their respective friends, planning to meet up later that evening in town. That night, Melissa joined Adam and his friends at Molly Jacks, and Shark eventually joined as well. They spent the evening getting to know one another with Adam and Melissa bonding over their love for Meat Loaf. Over the rest of the weekend, Melissa and Adam spent time together both on the mountain and at Adam’s vacation rental, playing games and enjoying each other’s company with friends. When the weekend ended, they weren’t sure when they would see each other again, Adam lived in Oklahoma City, and Melissa in Philadelphia. However, after talking every day on FaceTime for a couple of weeks, Adam invited Melissa to San Diego for a long weekend, marking their first official date. After that, they made it a point to travel monthly to see each other across the country. On February 21, 2026, Adam planned a ski trip to Killington, Vermont with their friends Meg and Hannah. What Melissa didn’t know was that they had been secretly planning his proposal for the weekend. On the mountain, Adam found the perfect spot to get down on one knee and propose.
