It was another festive New Year's Eve at the Hill's house. Adam and Hannah, who both attended Bishop Kenny High School and the University of North Florida, had never met until that fateful night. (Shout out to Jenny for the encouragement to get Adam to introduce himself.) He said, "Hello", and she said, "Oh my gosh! Has anyone ever told you that you look like Tosh.O?!" ... mind you, this introduction took place just before the ball dropped and after a few bourbon drinks in. After some light conversation, Hannah rejoined her friends at the party - avoiding Adam the rest of the night. Even though Hannah refused to give Adam her number that night, he was determined to find her - like a modern-day Cinderella story, but the version where she left with both shoes and was easily found on Facebook where Prince Charming could, and did, slide into her DMs. After some persistence from Adam, she agreed to a first date. Fast forward one week. Adam picked Hannah up and got to meet her parents, Brian and Miriam. After an embarrassing (*ahem* Brian) first introduction, they made their way to Stonewood for their first date where it was crashed by none other than Roy and Jan Miller and Mike and Karen Shalley. From then on, the two were inseparable!
As you might guess, a lot can happen in 9 years and a lot certainly has! It would be nearly impossible to encompass it all within this site's character limit, but we'll do our best. We are a team - tackling everything side-by-side and leaning on each when times get tough. We also enjoy partnering up to kick butt at golf, volleyball, beer pong...you name it! Although the past few years, in particular, have thrown more obstacles our way than we thought we could handle, we got through it. Not only are we stronger for it, but our relationship has proven to be able to withstand even the craziest of times, including a global pandemic. We are best friends. We laugh A LOT. We love each other's company and can enjoy a night when we're disconnected from our devices and talking for hours or just sitting quietly, simply enjoying each other's company. We speak (and sometimes sing) a language all our own. We get each other, and it's the best thing ever. We have been together through the best and worst of times - from milestone birthdays, college graduations and big career moves to the heartbreaking losses of family and loved ones. Through it all, our love and understanding of each other has created a bond stronger than either of us could have ever imagined. All that said, we could never be where we are today without the love and support of our friends and family. We are blessed to have truly amazing people in our lives that have helped us learn and grow.
We were having a drink on the back porch after dinner, listening to music and enjoying each other's company. The sound of light rain over the river and a gentle breeze blowing through the windchimes was light and peaceful. It wasn't unlike many other nights since we frequently find ourselves outside, disconnecting from our devices and reconnecting with each other before the night was over. After a few minutes, Adam disappeared inside for a bit with Legend. He came back out, sat down in the rocking chair next to me and continued to talk and listen to music. At that point, I was already anticipating what would happened next so the water works were already flowing. He reached in his pocket and said, "I have something for you." I was so emotional and excited I can't remember what he said, but I did remember to say yes at the right time. We danced together the rest of the night. Everything was perfect! We've waited 3,288 days for this special day and we cannot wait to celebrate with you! We understand that 2020 hasn't been very kind to most of us, so we are beyond excited to end this year on a high note and welcome 2021 as Mr. & Mrs. Miller!
