Question

I am unfamiliar with the Traditional Nuptial Mass in the Tridentine Rite. What should I expect?

Answer

Thank you for asking! The vows and homily are in English and there will be booklets provided with the Latin-English translation to follow along. This is the Mass that many of our favorite saints grew up going to! Please copy and paste the following helpful websites below into a new tab of your internet browser if you have more questions about this form of the Mass or are interested in learning more about it: https://www.learnreligions.com/what-to-know-about-traditional-latin-mass-4068352 https://baylorcatholic.org/sgs-faq https://www.veilsbylily.com/frequently-asked-questions/

Question

Am I allowed to take pictures during the Nuptial Mass?

Answer

We know it’s tempting to take pictures of special moments like a wedding, but we ask you to please refrain from taking photos during the Nuptial Mass from the time we process in to the time we walk down the aisle as a married couple. We have hired an excellent photographer (@faithrowleyphotos) and we only want her to be photographing our Nuptial Mass. We don’t want anyone’s camera, iPhone, iPad, etc. blocking the photographer’s shot. We promise photos will be shared at a later date. Thank you in advance!

Question

What should we do when we arrive at Sweetest Heart of Mary?

Answer

We ask that you take a seat and pray, contemplate, or reflect. Please send us your blessings as we will be minutes away from being married. We kindly ask that you remain silent in the church out of respect for Jesus present in the tabernacle and the sacrament that is about to take place. If you want to congregate with others, please do so in the beautiful courtyard outside.

Question

Will I have time to do anything after the wedding Mass before the cocktail hour at 1:30?

Answer

You may have an hour between the conclusion of the wedding Mass and the start of the cocktail hour. Feel free to grab a drink at one of our favorite bars listed in the “Things to Do” tab. If you are staying at the Dearborn Inn, feel free to leave your car at the Dearborn Inn and take the complimentary shuttle (assuming it is no longer paused) to TPC Michigan on the way to the cocktail hour and back from the reception.

Question

Is there anything special I should know about Sweetest Heart of Mary Church?

Answer

Thank you for asking! It is a Polish Catholic church in the heart of old Poletown and it has much significance to Adam and his Polish background. A few of his family members have been married here too! Adam began attending Mass here when he moved to Detroit a few years ago. The history of how this church was built is fascinating. Question

Are there any other events that I should know about around the wedding?

Answer
