In 2023 we headed out of town for the purpose of proposing to one another. A ferry took us to an island in the San Juans, where we would spend the weekend just the two of us. The night before, we retreated to opposite sides of our house in Seattle and called the other's parents to ask for their blessing. Once off the ferry we stayed at a cabin overlooking the ocean that felt like it was on the edge of the world. The location had been a negotiation: Adam envisioned a plush hotel in Victoria, British Columbia. Evan imagined retracing our first camping trip together, backpacking on the Washington coast, but doing it… in February. The cabin was a good compromise. From there we woke up one morning and set out on a hike, walked until we found a spot on a quiet bluff overlooking the ocean, and read the letters of proposal that we had written to one another. We chose to get married, in part, because we wanted to have this celebration: to honor our years together as well as affirm our future - surrounded by those we love. We're both so grateful to you, our community, for your love and support. We can't wait to be together soon!
