WEEKEND: We recommend walking, or Uber/Lyft, if your destination is far enough. The streets are absolutely beautiful to walk through, and the city is designed on a square grid so enjoy the parks scattered throughout. TO THE WEDDING: We highly recommend taking the free 5 minute ferry that runs from River Street every 30 minutes (every 20 minutes after 6pm) and drops you off right at the Westin entrance. TO THE AFTER PARTY: Again, stick with the ferry. BACK TO THE HOTEL LATE-NIGHT: With the ferry closing at midnight, we recommend taking an Uber/Lyft which will take you over the Talmadge Memorial Bridge and will be about 9 min from Downtown back to the hotel. Basically, no matter what shenanigans you may get in to late-night, you will always be within an arms reach (if you are staying at the Westin).
Yes silly! You are legally permitted to carry alcohol in and around the streets of Savannah. We recommend popping into the "Ordinary Pub" and grabbing yourself a famous "Togosa" (to-go, mimosa).
Why yes! The wedding is located at The Westin which is just over The Savannah River from the historic "River Street." Every 5-6 minutes there is a free ferry shuttle that will take you to and from the Westin and River Street. To give you a sense of the river size, Jonathan claims he can throw a frisbee over it... take that for whatever it is.
In your driveway back home. Joking. Street parking is the easiest but can be a bit tricky to navigate finding spots sometimes. If you chose street parking, we recommend you download the "Park Savannah" app. An alternative is to navigate towards "Dot" parking garages.
There are countless options of places to stay in Savannah! Because of this, we would love for you to feel free to stay wherever you'd like. We do have three room block rates set up at The Westin (where the wedding will be), Hotel Indigo, and The Holiday Inn, which are all right downtown and will make getting to all the wedding festivities super easy! Check out the Travel page for the links to these rates, and please notify us immediately if there are any issues. The Marriott and The Hyatt Hotels are also right on River St. and are very close to the ferry docks. You can also check out the numerous other hotels in downtown Savannah, or for someone wanting more of that southern charm check out renting a house or apartment on Airbnb!
While we love your kids and encourage you to make this destination wedding a family affair if you'd like, we are requesting an adults only wedding. If you'd like to book a babysitter, The Westin recommends using Excellent Nanny Service or Guardian Angel Sitting Service (which is based out of Hilton Head). Please let us know if you have any questions! https://excellentnannyservice.com/ https://guardianangelssittingservice.com/hiltonhead.php
It is Oktoberfest 10/4-10/6, so there may likely be a higher volume of German beer consumption on the street. Don't be thrown off by an occasional lederhosen or 7. We do hope that debauchery doesn't inhibit your Savannah experience, and encourage you to attend as time permits. Rumor has it we will get fireworks on Friday 10/4 from it, wooo.
Forest Gump is Amy's favorite mov... totally kidding. Amy attend Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) which is densely scattered throughout much of the historic portion of the city, and was in love since her freshman year. Born outside of Atlanta, Savannah has always been within arms reach for her until she made her move to New York City. Jonathan eagerly visited the city in the years of their relationship that followed and it's charm was overwhelming. We acknowledge that 0.00% of the entire wedding lives in Savannah, so in all regards this is a travel destination wedding, and therefore we truly appreciate every single attendance. Your presence means the world.
You do. You've managed to find our FAQ page and for some reason you've scrolled all the way down. We love you. **High-Five**
