Her version: It was 2010 when I first moved to Chino Hills, CA to live with my cousin Sharon and her family. I was beginning my first year of nursing school and knew I needed an outlet from all the mental stress a nursing student would endure. I heard about CrossFit Chino Hills and was interested in joining the gym. Fast forward 4 months, I was taking a 6:00 pm class when I first noticed Brent...'s curly hair. That's what caught my attention. How CURLY and WAVY it was!! I had to know if it was natural or chemically induced. So I asked him out of nowhere as he was putting his barbell away. "Hey!... is your hair naturally curly??" I asked. Brent stopped, smiled at me, brushed his fingers through his curly hair and said, "Yeah, it's natural." Taken aback, I responded with, "OH!!" and walked away. We didn't interact much after that until a year later lol! I was working out early in the morning when I saw a fine dark man walking towards me. It was Brent! He approached me after class and said "I haven't seen you in so long, where have you been!?" We talked for over an hour and by then I was starving! I asked him if he wanted to get breakfast with me, and from there on we've been going on countless breakfast, lunch, and dinner dates! All thanks to his curly hair, here we are as future husband and wife.
His version: It was at our gym, CrossFit Chino hills, when I first met Sharon. I would see her every now and then at the gym and always thought she was pretty. I wanted so badly to get to know her but I was just way too shy. I remember after a workout we were just having some small talk and I remember her mentioning something about a boyfriend. I was devastated! So, out of respect, I decided not to pursue. Fast forward a year or so, and I see Sharon back at the gym. We began to have short conversations here and there whenever we would see each other. One of those conversations, Sharon had mentioned that she no longer had a boyfriend. My heart began to race but I kept my cool. It was time to make my move! One day, I was so nervous when she had asked me if I wanted to grab breakfast after she finished a workout. In fact I was so nervous that when we greeted each other ‘goodbye’ I gave her a HIGH FIVE! I died inside! But luckily I grew enough courage to continue to call her and ask her on dates. From then on, our love bloomed into something so special there was no doubt in my mind I wanted it to last forever.
