Things To Do

Chill Half Day in La Jolla:

Pastries: Wayfarer Bread and Pastry

5525 La Jolla Blvd, La Jolla, CA 92037

For those who love pastries, this is the spot.

Activity: Windansea Beach

6800 Neptune Pl, La Jolla, CA 92037

Pick up some pastries from Wayfarer and head over here! The waters are breathtaking, and a big plus is you can usually find less populated areas if you want to swim without the typical beachgoer crowd.

Full Day in La Jolla:

Breakfast Option #1: Snooze

8861 Villa La Jolla Dr, #509, La Jolla, CA 92037
, (858) 483-5556

Bride's order (and recommendation): cinnamon roll pancakes with a side of hashbrowns, flat and crispy. You won't be sorry.

Breakfast Option #2: Brockton Villa

1235 Coast Blvd, La Jolla, CA 92037
, (858) 454-7393

Bride loves French toast, and this is one of her top two spots in all of San Diego. They also serve lunch and dinner!

Activity: La Jolla Cove

1160 Coast Blvd, La Jolla, CA 92037

Walking around La Jolla in itself is a fun experience. You've got the cove, the caves, the seals, the shops. You can wander around for a couple hours at least. And of course, the water is beautiful, so it gives you the opportunity to marvel at the creation of God :) I'd start out at Ellen Browning Scripps Park in La Jolla Cove, which is the address given here (conveniently located next to Brockton Villa 😉), and make your way around from there. For those who'd like a little more adventure, make your way over to La Jolla Shores, and you'll find options for kayaking, paddleboarding, and snorkeling tours!

Lunch Option #1: Pamir Kabob House

737 Pearl St, La Jolla, CA 92037
, (858) 352-6670

Random Afghan spot in the heart of La Jolla for those who are craving some mantu and kabuli pulao. It's zabiha!

Lunch Option #2: Calvin's Korean Chicken

3211 Holiday Ct, Unit 101A, La Jolla, CA 92037
, (858) 587-9848

Chicken tenders are zabiha! (but not the wings)

Activity: Birch Aquarium

2300 Expedition Way, La Jolla, CA 92037
, (858) 534-3474

A fun activity for both adults and kids! They even let you touch some of the tidepool animals 😮. It's also on the more affordable side! We all know San Diego is expensive :/

Dinner Option #1: Osteria Romantica

2151 Avenida De La Playa, La Jolla, CA 92037
, (858) 551-1221

Dinner Option #2: Piatti

2182 Avenida De La Playa, La Jolla, CA 92037
, (858) 454-1589

Dessert: Scoops La Jolla

2179 Avenida De La Playa, La Jolla, CA 92037
, (858) 246-6321

End the day with ice cream and crêpes! Conveniently located right beside both dinner options. This Palestinian-owned establishment serves Van Leeuwen ice cream, which is sourced from their home base in NYC. For the New Yorkers reading this, you may have tasted the ice cream before :)

Full Day in South Central San Diego (nearby ceremony venue area):

Breakfast: Farmer's Bottega

860 W Washington St, San Diego, CA 92103
, (619) 458-9929

The other spot with the best French toast!

Activity: Balboa Park

1549 El Prado, San Diego, CA 92101
, (619) 239-0512

The location of Bride and Groom's "first date" :) So many places to explore here: go for a walk, peruse the museums, visit the botanical garden, watch the performers, and take the kids for a train ride and spin on the merry go round! And if you're willing to drop 70 bucks per person 😅, the San Diego Zoo is right next door.

Activity (for the kiddos): The New Children's Museum

200 W Island Ave, San Diego, CA 92101
, (619) 233-8792

Fun activity for the kids, but parents can also partake and enjoy :)

Lunch Option #1: Hillcrust Pizza

127 University Ave, San Diego, CA 92103
, (619) 505-2627

Groom has informed Bride that this is not true pizza, but if you're feeling like halal pepperoni on pizza, this is what we got :)

Lunch Option #2: Bronx Pizza

111 Washington St, San Diego, CA 92103
, (619) 291-3341

No zabiha options here, but more "authentic" and definitely a good slice of cheese or veggie pizza.

Activity: Seaport Village

849 W Harbor Dr, San Diego, CA 92101

Nice area with shops and views! You can also purchase tickets to take a ferry from Broadway Pier (couple minutes walk from Seaport) to Coronado and explore the Island (link to tickets below)!

Dinner Option #1: Fish Market

750 N Harbor Dr, San Diego, 92101
, (619) 232-3474

Right on the water, so you enjoy good food with a view :)

Dessert Option #1: Extraordinary Desserts

1430 Union St, San Diego, CA 92101
, (619) 294-7001

Everyone knows, you go to San Diego, you go to Extraordinary Desserts. Which means that it's always good, and it's always packed. So, in case you're struggling to find parking at this one, there's also a location nearby in Bankers Hill. Bride and Best Friend spent two hours looking once because they refused to pay for parking, smh. Don't be like them.

Dessert Option #2: Stella Jean's Ice Cream

4404 Park Blvd, Ste B, San Diego, CA 92116
, (619) 501-8252

Our favorite ice cream spot in San Diego!! Bride's order: brown butter pecan. Groom's order: ube + pandesal toffee. Can't go wrong with either or any of their flavors for that matter!

Dinner Option #2: Mal Al Sham

388 E Main St, El Cajon, CA 92020
, (619) 401-1055

If you're looking for a good zabiha option and are willing to venture out, the food here is quality and plentiful. Groom did not believe Bride about how plentiful the food is, so Bride and Parents ate leftovers for an entire week.

Dessert Option #3: Juice Time & Papa Kanafa

2990 Jamacha Rd, #136, El Cajon, CA 92019
, (619) 303-0665

If you went with Mal Al Sham and want something sweet that's nearby, this is the place to go. They've got rich and refreshing options, so you can experience both!

Full Day in Northwest San Diego (nearby reception venue area):

Breakfast: Richard Walker's Pancake House

2670 Via De La Valle, Del Mar, CA 92014
, (323) 726-2253

Nothing specific to write home about, but the food overall is good quality and Bride and Family and Friends have enjoyed this restaurant (in different locations) many times.

Activity Option #1: San Diego Botanic Garden

300 Quail Gardens Drive, Encinitas, CA 92024
, (760) 436-3036

So many cool varieties of plants. Another amazing place to marvel at God's Creation. There are also some fun play spots for the kids inside!

Activity Option #2: LEGOLAND

One Legoland Dr, Carlsbad, CA 92008
, (888) 690-5346

This one is expensive, but Bride can attest to it being a grand ole time, even as an adult :) Could be fun for those with kids to coordinate a group outing! It's a full day thing, so if you opt for this, scratch the other activities for this day.

Lunch: The Taco Stand

642 S Coast Hwy 101, Encinitas, CA 92024
, 760) 230-2061

Amazing tacos. We recommend the Camaron (with lots of cilantro salsa!) 😋

Activity: Pelly's Mini Golf

15555 Jimmy Durante Blvd, Del Mar, CA 92014
, (858) 509-5130

Fun for everyone! You could also do real golf at this Del Mar Golf Center, but we think mini golfing is more fun :)

Dinner: Boto Sushi Del Mar

2628 Del Mar Heights Rd, Del Mar, CA 92014
, (858) 847-2828

Bride’s best friend's favorite spot, and she’s a sushi connoisseur :)

Dessert: Mad for Cheesecake

6030 Village Way, Suite 108, San Diego, CA 92130
, (858) 925-7114

Can't say that we've tried this place before, but Groom loves Japanese cheesecake, so it's probably good? 😬

For all the days along the way
