I Guess You're Stuck With Me

Monday, August 22nd, 2022: From Abby's Perspective: It was our first day of class for our doctoral program. I ate Chick-fil-a with my roommates outside the classroom and made brief conversation with Levi. My roommates and I were the last to enter the class, and I saw three open seats next to Levi. I made a beeline for them, and sat next to him. The professors requested that we stay in our same seats in following classes to help them remember us all. I do not know what possessed me to say it, but I gathered the boldness to turn to the handsome boy next to me and joked, "I guess you're stuck with me." But I was too nervous to look him the eyes because of how attractive I found him. We quickly became more familiar with one another, using homework as an excuse to study together. On November 13th, 2022, we became an official couple. Over the past couple years, God has worked so beautifully throughout our relationship to teach me more about His love for us and how to love Him. We have created so many amazing memories, and supported each other through difficult ones too. Now I eagerly await August 9th, 2025, when we enter into a new chapter together. Levi, since the day I met you, I have hoped you would be "stuck" with me. It is with great joy that I await our wedding, when we have our happily ever after "stuck" together. A little better than merely sitting next to each other in class, I daresay. From Levi's Perspective: On our first day of class, Abby and I sat next to each other, and, with a fun little assist from God, our professors said that they would prefer that we sit in these spots for the rest of the semester to help them remember names and faces. The girl next to me (Abby… if you were wondering) leaned over and quipped, “I guess you’re stuck with me.” Because of the knucklehead I am, I sarcastically got up out of my seat and pretended to move to another spot. Following that day, Abby and I continued to grow our friendship more and more, which eventually turned into a dating relationship. We have had many fun memories, such as: doing an awkward couples photoshoot, spending time with each other's families, going on fun trips and adventures, enduring the craziness of a Psy.D. program, being in awe of the "Atlantic Wildfowl Heritage Museum," and much more. After a couple years of dating the most incredible girl, I finally got to propose in the same spot we sat next to each other on that first day of class. This time, I was able to express that I wanted to be by her side for the rest of my life and asked her to marry me. And she said yes! As we glimpse into the future, we cannot wait to go on more crazy/goofy adventures together, eat all the fried chicken, laugh to the point of tears, and glorify God as a married couple. Abby, I love you dearly, and I cannot wait for the plans God has in store for us.
