While children are welcome at The Westin, ALL wedding events will be adults-only.
The sooner, the better! We suggest booking flights and rooms as soon as you are able in order to prevent sellouts and prices from rising. We were able to get a block of rooms at a heavily discounted rate and they will release them by 6/24/2024. Please follow this link to book on our hotel block: https://book.passkey.com/e/50739319 If you run into issues in booking, please reach out to Abbey or Ross. The hotel releases a limited number of rooms on our website at a time. In the off chance the booking is full, we will contact the hotel to release more rooms, subject to availability and before our cut off date.
No--which is part of the reason we selected St. Thomas as our destination. When traveling within the USVI (St. Thomas, St. John, St. Croix), no passport is required, but some form of identification (like a driver's license) may be requested. If you'd like to travel to the British Virgin Islands (which is a short and fairly inexpensive boat ride away), you WILL need a passport. Please plan accordingly.
See our Travel tab for more details on the cab company we recommend. Ground transportation is a highly regulated industry in St. Thomas and as such, drivers must offer uniform standard rates. It is also important to note that it is very difficult to arrange a cab unless you are staying at a resort, as many drivers tend to congregate around the known tourist areas and have difficulty finding places in lesser-populated areas. We had a hard time finding transportation to/from locations that were "off the beaten path" due to the winding roads and poorly mapped areas in parts of the island. Also, please note that taxis are cash-only.
Our #1 tip is to shop in the airport when you land! Things like soda and snacks are very expensive on the island. The airport has a liquor store to stop at right after you land with much cheaper prices. We highly suggest purchasing alcohol there to bring with you to the hotel if you would like. Bring bug-spray with you. St. Thomas has "no see ums" which are small mosquito like bugs that bite - and bad! Most of the outdoor restaurants at the resort have bug spray on-hand, you just have to ask for it. The bugs are worse at night and after rain. We recommend bringing cash with you to the island to pay for transportation and tips. The Westin does have an ATM onsite. If you are staying on the island pre- or post-wedding, we encourage you to look up the cruise schedule. St.Thomas has a large cruise port that can hold up to 8 large cruise ships at a time and when they are on the island for the day, the popular beaches and towns will be busy. Try and arrange any activities in areas like Magens Bay, Havensight/Charlotte Amalie on a day with little or no cruise ships. Also, SHOP if that is your thing! St. Thomas is a great place to buy luxury items like jewelry. Shopping in the USVI for these types of items is great because it is duty-free. There is no sales tax in USVI. If you are interested in purchasing jewelry, we suggest going to Alpha Jewelers in Charlotte Amalie and ask for Henry Chainani and tell him Abbey sent you.
