You need a visa to travel to India. Most nationalities (including Irish, American) are eligible for tourist electronic visa (e-Visa) that you can apply for online. Passport holders of certain countries (UK, Canada) are not eligible for the tourist e-Visa. Review the official government of India website to determine your eligibility for the e-visa and to complete the application (https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/evisa/tvoa.html). If you're not eligible for the tourist e-Visa, check the appropriate application process with your home country authorities. Expect delays and changes with visa application processing times. We highly recommend planning ahead and starting the visa process ASAP. Your passport should be valid for at least 6 months beyond your date of arrival. NOTE: There are many 3rd party vendors claiming to fast track your visa. Please do not provide your information to them. Use only the official India government website.
You will need to confirm your vaccinated status or provide a negative test to enter India. Vaccinated travelers can provide proof of vaccination instead of a negative test. Unvaccinated travelers will need to upload a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours prior to departure. Vaccination information needs to be provided prior to travel via the Air Suvidha portal or you could be denied boarding for your flight. You should receive information on this when booking your international flights into India. Further information can be found here: https://www.newdelhiairport.in/airsuvidha/apho-registration. COVID-19 requirements change from time to time. You should keep up to date with the latest guidance when booking travel and prior to departure.
