This ritual is the start of the wedding day preparation, where the bride and groom get ready to look their best on their special day. The Haldi ceremony is where family and friends smear the faces of the bride and groom with oil and turmeric. The intention is to make their skin glow so they can outshine everyone on their wedding day! In the Choora ceremony the bride receives wedding bangles from her maternal uncle to signify good health and fortune in her married life. Lunch will be served from 11:30 AM onwards.

Wedding Ceremony & Reception

3:00 pm

Lohagarh Fort Resort
Jaipur, India

Dress Code: Indian Traditional or Western Formal

A typical Indian wedding consists of multiple rituals. It starts with the "Baraat" (3 PM onwards), where the groom arrives on a horse, surrounded by his family and friends. His dance moves are expected to impress the bride and her family! "Milni" ceremony - the groom is welcomed and received by the bride's family and friends. They enthusiastically exchange garlands and greetings. "Varmala" - the bride and groom exchange flower garlands to symbolize accepting each other as partners for life. The "Pheras" (~5 PM) - this is the main wedding ceremony, which takes ~1.5 hours. Guided by a Pandit (Hindu priest), the bride and groom complete 7 sacred rounds around the holy fire. Each round corresponds to a specific vow. See the Ceremony Details section for more information. Reception dinner from 8PM onwards, followed by speeches and dancing.
