We respectfully request all RSVPs by August 15th. If we haven’t received your RSVP by then, we’ll assume you are unable to attend.
We would prefer for guests to submit their RSVP on our wedding website.
Yes! It has actually been named the "World's Best City" by Travel & Leisure multiple times and is one of the safest cities in Mexico. Locals, including the 10% of ex-pat Americans who live there permanently, are very friendly and welcoming to tourists. San Miguel is a very safe city; however, it's always important to use common sense when you are traveling anywhere, whether in the US or internationally.
Be sure to download WhatsApp before your trip! It’s a free international messaging app that works over Wi-Fi or data and is widely used in Mexico. Most car services, hotels, and Airbnbs will likely use it to communicate with you about your stay and travel plans. It’s extremely helpful, easy to use, and a great way to stay connected without international texting fees. If it’s new to you, go ahead and start getting familiar with it now!
We don’t recommend renting a car. San Miguel’s charm lies in its narrow, hilly cobblestone streets, which can make driving and parking quite challenging. Luckily, the city is extremely walkable, with most places just 5–10 minutes apart on foot. Be sure to pack comfortable shoes to navigate those picturesque (but uneven!) streets with ease. Taxis are also a convenient and affordable option for getting around town, typically costing between 60–100 pesos per ride in the city. Just confirm the fare before getting in and carry pesos, as drivers usually prefer local currency.
As with other Mexico destinations, avoid tap water unless it has been filtered. You can check with your hotel or rental house to ensure that your tap water is filtered. Ice and water served at most restaurants are typically purified, but when in doubt, ask to be sure or order bottled water! Bottled water is widely available and short term visitors are advised to use it to brush their teeth, too. *Don't forget to drink plenty of water* San Miguel is high in elevation so it's important to stay hydrated!
November in San Miguel de Allende brings warm days in the mid-70s to 80s °F with low humidity, making it a great time to explore the town. Nights can get chilly, dropping into the 50s°F, so be sure to pack a jacket or sweater. It's the perfect balance of mild daytime temperatures and cooler evenings. Also, don’t forget to pack a swimsuit for the pool party day—you’ll want to take a dip and enjoy the warm weather!
We know your time away from home and work is precious, so we recommend making the most of your trip by staying as long as you can to fully enjoy everything San Miguel has to offer. Feel free to arrive early or stay a bit longer to relax and explore this beautiful city. Be sure to check out our "Things to Do" page for some of our favorite activities in town. Wedding events will take place from Tuesday evening through Thursday afternoon, and after the pool party wraps up on Thursday, we’ll likely hit the town to continue the celebration! Abby & Jason plan to stay in San Miguel until Saturday, November 8th, and although we don’t have official plans yet, we’d love to explore the city with anyone still around on Friday! So if you decide to extend your stay after the wedding festivities, we’d love to make more memories together.
The currency in Mexico is the Mexican Peso (MXN). Please note that both Mexican Pesos and USD use the same $ symbol, so it’s important to clarify which currency you’re using when making payments. There are ATMs in and around the main square (El Jardín) in San Miguel de Allende. Many hotels and restaurants accept credit cards and US dollars, but smaller shops and markets may not. While it’s not strictly necessary to pay in pesos, locals in San Miguel prefer it. It’s a good idea to get some cash in pesos for convenience. For the best deal, it’s recommended to pay for taxi rides in pesos rather than USD.
SMA sits just over 6,000 ft above sea level. Because of its moderately high altitude and dry climate, you will want to ensure that you hydrate accordingly. Drink a lot of water in the days leading up to the wedding so you can leave it all on the dance floor!
Please refer to the Schedule page on this website for detailed dress code info for each event.
While we love all of the children in our lives, we have decided to make our event adults only. We hope you take this opportunity to enjoy a relaxing vacation!
Most of our events will be held outdoors. Be sure to check the weather before packing so you can stay comfortable throughout the day. Also, don’t forget to bring a jacket or sweater for the cooler evenings!
Due to space limitations, we’re only able to accommodate those listed on the invitation. We hope you understand and know how much we appreciate you being part of our special day!
