Question

WHATS THE WEATHER LIKE IN TELLURIDE?

Answer

The first week of August in Telluride offers spectacular, sunny days with average high temperatures in the mid-70s. For the ceremony at San Sophia Overlook, please be aware that passing afternoon rain showers are common; rest assured, our planners will have umbrellas available for guests. Evenings will turn quite chilly (low 40s), so ensure your reception attire includes a warm coat or wrap. Finally, comfortable, block-heeled shoes are highly recommended for stability on the natural terrain at the Overlook.

Question

DRESS CODE

Answer

We are asking guests to dress in Formal Attire, which is one step below Black Tie. Think sophisticated mountain style. For ladies, this means a formal evening gown or an elegant cocktail dress; long dresses are encouraged for the reception. For gentlemen, a dark suit (navy, charcoal, or black) with a tie is appropriate. Given the uneven terrain at the Overlook, please opt for block heels or comfortable dress shoes instead of stilettos.

Question

HOW DO I THRIVE AT SUCH A HIGH ALTITUDE?

Answer

This is a very important thing to be aware of. The town of Telluride is situated at 8,750 feet. Mountain Village is even higher with accommodations between 9,400-10,000 feet. This means there is 30% less oxygen in the air in Telluride than at sea level. We recommend staying hydrated. Even before you leave home, be sure to drink lots of water and electrolytes! Ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin) should also help. Please call the Telluride Medical Center, (970) 728-3848 if you are worried about your symptoms. It is important to not ignore any of these symptoms.
