FAQs

Question

When Should I Book My Room?

Answer

As soon as possible! January is peak wedding season in the Dominican Republic, and we expect certain types of rooms at the Majestic Mirage to book up quickly. We only have 25 rooms blocked off currently as we await RSVPs. As rooms start to fill up, Abby and Bear will continue to reserve more rooms specifically for wedding guests, but the sooner the better so we can guarantee availability for everyone!

Question

What dates should I book for my stay?

Answer

While the resort requires a 3-night minimum stay, we would recommend guests to book ideally from January 28th-February 1st, or longer. By arriving on the 28th, this gives you plenty of time to arrive on time (accounting for flight delays which commonly happen), get settled in, and enjoy the resorts amenities for a day or two before the wedding on the 30th. Abby and Bear will likely be staying at the Majestic from January 27th to February 2nd, and are hoping to plan some group activities with guests for the day or two after the wedding. You are more than welcome and encouraged to extend your trip along with us!

Question

Is anything planned for other days outside of the wedding?

Answer

We will most likely have a welcome dinner on 1/29, but will otherwise be using the 28th/29th to relax and prepare for our big day on the 30th. We would love to plan some post-wedding adventures though, and are considering potentially a Catamaran cruise and/or trip to Caribbean Lake Park on 1/31 or 2/1. If any guests are able to extend their trip a day or two after the wedding to join in for these, we would love to have more time to celebrate with you!

Question

How should I book my stay?

Answer

We have organized a discounted room block for all of our guests to easily book their stays at the Majestic Mirage, which also includes free transportation from the airport to the resort and back. Please navigate to the "Travel" tab and follow the link to book your stay!

Question

Do I have to pay for the whole room now?

Answer

No! By booking through our room block, you only need to pay a $100 deposit now (and any travel insurance if you would like to add that,) but the rest of the balance will not be due until closer to the wedding. If plans change and you’d like to change your dates of stay, you also have until 30 days before the wedding to make those changes.

Question

Can I book my room through a 3rd party website?

Answer

We ask that you please use our room block instead! We've secured a special discounted rate for the wedding that also includes your airport transfer, while third-party sites often come with hidden fees or restrictive change policies. We already negotiated a lower price than what is available online to non-wedding guests. Our travel agent, Elise, offers continued price matching to guarantee all of our guests receive the lowest rates, so please reach out to her directly if you find a better price anywhere else online. Plus, by being apart of our room block, you’ll get to stay in the heart of the action and be guaranteed to stay near all of our other guests!

Question

Where should I go if I have more questions about booking?

Answer

Our booking agent, Elise, is here to help! She can answers all of your questions about booking your room as well as helping you with flights. She is managing the room block for our whole wedding and is your go-to person if you have any questions at all. She is very responsive to emails, calls or texts and can be reached at: eroeschlein@destinationweddings.com 651-295-4703

Question

When Should I Book My Flight?

Answer

This depends on your own comfort level, but flights will tend to decrease in price later in the year if you are wanting to wait it out. We would recommend checking out a few preferred flights on Google Flights now, and setting up a price alert so that you are notified when prices drop. Depending on your location, Google Flights will also tell you what the typical price range is and when is historically the best time to buy.

Question

Can I bring a Plus One?

Answer

We've carefully curated our guest list to include plus-ones for spouses and long-term partners—these should already be reflected on your RSVP invitation. If we've inadvertently missed including your spouse, please reach out to Abby or Bear, and we'll be happy to update your RSVP right away. For other guests, we kindly ask that you hold off on additional requests at this time. Our invited guest list exceeds our venue's capacity, and we're still awaiting RSVPs over the coming months to finalize our headcount and determine if any extra spaces become available. That said, we absolutely encourage you to bring whoever you'd like for the rest of the trip—this is your vacation, after all! As we get closer to the date and receive most of our RSVPs, we'll do our best to accommodate additional guests for the ceremony itself if space allows.

Question

If I’m coming by myself, can I get matched up with a roommate?

Answer

Yes! Some of our guests may be coming on their own, and may desire to share a room with someone else to save money on their booking (this resort is like any other hotel, where you pay for the whole room, so it’s much more affordable to split a room with others). If you don’t already know someone you’d like to room with, please feel free to reach out to Abby or Bear to have them help match with you another guest who is traveling solo!
