Our Story

Before there were dating apps...

In a tale as old as time, we met at a house party in college at the University of Texas. Andreu was invited by his longtime friend Sarah to a theater cast party. He didn't learn until after arriving that it was a decades themed party, and everyone was in costumes. Abby was also invited by her friend (and bridesmaid) LJ to the cast party. As was typical, LJ tried to fix Abby's hair into a 60s style beehive and applied winged eyeliner. Truth be told, Abby was feeling worse for wear from the last night and felt like staying in. The promise of dancing with friends lured her out. Upon realizing he was underdressed for the costume party, Andreu decided to spice things up by asking people to sign his arm with a Sharpie. Why, you may ask. "I thought it would be fun." When Abby's friend signed his arm, she watched from behind nervously. She thought Andreu was super cute; surprised to meet an eligible bachelor at a theater party. She signed his forearm with a heart. He thought Abby was cute and made a point to talk to her again later that night. As the evening progressed, guests continued to sign their names on Andreu. Abby watched from the corner and grew increasingly jealous of the women fawning over him. She re-approached Andreu, and they instantly connected over shared love of music and sports. Andreu decided to shoot his shot and ask her to lunch. He thought lunch would be less pressure. Abby thought lunch meant he just wanted to be friends. They nervously chatted over Indian food at Teji's. Andreu drank at least 6 glasses of water, so nervous to scare her off. Abby texted her friend from the bathroom, "I think I like him." Andreu saw a help wanted sign in the door and ended up working there for a time. As they left the restaurant, Abby invited him to go hang out with her friends. Agreeing, because he wanted to spend more time with her, never left her side after that. And the rest is history.
