Well as we all know, I get anxious about not having time in between layovers to make our small plane. This all stems from having the last flight out of San Jose at 420 pm to Tambor- if you miss it, you typically end up having to stay in San Jose until you can rebook to the morning OR use the ferry across to Tambor (we have never done this option) The typical itinerary for us BOS to CLT 5:50 AM 8:30 AM Connection time: 2h 35m CLT to SJO 11:05 AM 2:28 PM After arrival at SJO you go thru customs and baggage claim- so Usually wrapped up by 330 here After departing the international airport you walk to the domestic airport which is on the left, you do not need a taxi here. Checking in at the domestic airport is quick, fast and simple- max bag weight is 30lbs and if heavier you pay more (good thing bathing suits are light!) 420 departure from San Jose to Tambor ✈️ 450 arrival at Tambor 540 arrival at Mal Pais, the happiest place on earth Drop your things, grab a Ron Cola and run to the beach for the best sunset and ending to a hectic but certainly worth it travel day. You made it!
This is a small group of people traveling over 3,000 miles to experience our vows with us. If you would like contact of anyone to split houses/villas with reach out and we can connect you! Once all RSVPs have been confirmed this will be easier
We usually take a 10 am or 11 am Sansa flight (with pre arranged transportation with the airline from villa to airport) Arrival at the international airport is seemingly quick, and we usually end up taking a 245pm flight out of San Jose to CLT/MIA to Boston. However, be aware of your layover time because you will go thru customs during your layover so think about giving yourself some time here Around midnight we usually land in BOSTON- congrats, you’ve made it home. Now scroll thru your photos and dream about going back for the next 45 minute car ride home to snow and freezing temperatures.
Welcome to the beach! I recommend something light and airy as it’s usually quite warm into the evening hours. However we encourage you to come as you are, or don’t come at all, we won’t judge you either way!
We do alot of small meals at home, guac and chips, fresh fruits and veggies- it all just tastes better here. However, there’s no shortage of restaurants or cuisines in a 10 minute ATV ride from where we stay in Mal Pais. There’s a coffee shop and small breakfast cafe, convenience store/grocery mart and fishing village within walking distance to where we stay and encourage everyone to!
We recommend renting an ATV, but if that isn’t in the budget or something you will want to drive everywhere in you can rent a golf cart, bicycles, dirt bikes maybe even a horse if you ask the right person. If you need help with arranging any of that let us know and we can!
