It started like any other Saturday night, getting ready to go to the bars on O street. Abbey was going out for her friend’s going away party, and Tania was going out with her best friend, Kenya. Tania and Kenya were having drinks at Sandy’s when the cute girl Tania had been crushing on walked in. Tania chickened out and didn’t talk to Abbey. Later that night, Abbey saw Tania at Brother’s on the dance floor and told her friend that she had a big crush on her. Abbey’s friend stated she knew Tania and had grown up with her family. Abbey chickened out and didn’t talk to Tania. Towards the end of the night Abbey was in the bathroom when Tania walked in and said hi to Abbey. Abbey panicked, gave an awkward hi, and left the bathroom. Embarrassed, Abbey sent her friend to go talk to Tania at the bar and find out if she was single. Abbey’s friend reported back that it was Tania’s 21st birthday and that she was single. Abbey turned around to go talk to Tania and offer her a shot, but she was gone. Bummed out about missing the opportunity to talk to Tania, Abbey decided to slide in Tania’s DM’s after the bars closed. Tania responded right away to Abbey’s slick message and the rest is history.
May 2019- Tania surprised Abbey with a romantic picnic set up in the living room of their apartment. Abbey came home after work to find Tania dressed up with a charcuterie board and their favorite wine. After chatting for a bit, Tania asked Abbey to go open the bottle of wine for them. When Abbey came back to the living room, Tania was on one knee, holding a rose with a ring inside of it. Tania stumbled over her words, but eventually got out that she wanted to marry Abbey. Abbey of course said YESS and they shared dinner from one of their favorite local restaurants. April 2020- In the midst of the COVID pandemic, Abbey decided she couldn’t wait until the pandemic ended to propose to Tania. With everything being closed, Abbey had to find a way to pull off the romantic engagement she was envisioning. Abbey asked Tania if she wanted to dress up and go on a date, since they hadn’t been able to dress up in quite some time. Tania asked a million questions. Abbey informed Tania it was a surprise and to just dress nice. With the help of family and friends, Abbey was able to get the tennis court at their apartment complex all set up to be a romantic engagement location. Abbey and Tania got in the car to go on their date, and Abbey dropped the bomb that she wanted Tania to wear an eye cover so the surprise could continue until they arrived at the location. Tania reluctant to place anything over her makeup that she just spend a long time perfecting, stated she would promise to just keep her eyes closed until Abbey said to open them. Abbey drove around the neighborhood to confuse Tania about the location, and then pulled back into the apartment complex near the tennis court. Abbey led Tania into the tennis court and positioned her to face the words, “Marry Me?” Written on the fence. Abbey got on one knee, held out the ring and told Tania to open her eyes. Abbey professed her love for Tania, and asked her to marry her. Tania said YES and they were engaged x2.
