Her Version

Our love story is different than most, but let me tell you it is one for the books. I met Jamie at Skycrest Christian School. We were in different grades, so we never had classes together but we were always at the summer camps where he was one of my camp counselors. I always had little crush on him, I mean he was the cute middle school boy who could blame me! Fast forward to when I was in college at Auburn (War Eagle) and his family was in town for a game. Jamie, Laney and I went to dinner to catch up since we hadn't seen each other in years. My crush on him was still alive and well. We exchanged texts, but I was in college, still figuring things out. Let me tell you, those next few years Jamie was persistent, but I had some growing up to do. It wasn't until Covid lockdown when I saw a photo of him on Facebook and reached out to Mrs. B (our PE teacher from Skycrest) to find out if he was single. Not only did I find out he was single, but he made me WORK for that first date - I mean I don't blame him after I never gave him a chance before. I remember texting him randomly one night, SO nervous, asking him to get drinks and much to my surprise he said yes. I quickly knew that Jamie was the man for me - it could have been because all three dogs got along, but there is something special about him that makes me want to be the best version of myself everyday. Watching the past few years unfold with Jamie, I have realized that God's plan is carefully curated beyond what we could even dream for ourselves. I can't wait to see what is to come when we become Husband and Wife!

His Version

Abbey and I have known each other our whole lives. Our parents sent us and our siblings to the same grade school, so growing up, I had a comfortable level of familiarity with the Bouchard family. It wasn’t until I went to visit Auburn for a football weekend with my family that she and I reconnected, and I thought there could be something there. Following that Auburn visit, and multiple attempts over the years after to ask her out, I came to the conclusion I was dead wrong. So, I wrote her off as someone who would never give me the time of day and went about my dating life. 3 years went by between Abbey and I communicating and then one day I received a call from a family friend inquiring about my relationship status. I thought it was strange but indulged her and explained I was single but not in a hurry to get into a relationship. She urged me to consider giving Abbey a call, which I had to explain my multiple failed attempts at doing that over the years. We laughed, I thanked her for the call, but made sure to let her know that I would not be reaching out to Abbey. If Abbey wanted to see me, she had to initiate it. After all, it was my chance to actually make her work for it for a change and I had a feeling she was behind this. A week later I received a text asking if I was free to grab a drink and catch up. I was guarded the first few times we went out, all things considered, but as we spent more time together those walls started to come down. It wasn’t long before I realized that my initial thoughts, all the way back to that Auburn weekend, might actually have been true.
