We have made the difficult decision to postpone our Austin wedding. In these unprecedented times, our top priority is the health and well-being of our global community. That being said, we also really want to be able to celebrate our love with all of you! After some coordination, we are planning to change our event at The Union to almost exactly a year later, on June 11th, 2021. We will be in touch in the coming year with updates and reflect any changes on our wedding website, but wanted to give you as much notice as possible so we all have something special to look forward to!
Semi-formal - If you want to match the general vibe of the wedding, you might want to choose something in a "desert" range of colours. We made a pinterest board to help give a little inspo: https://www.pinterest.com/maddoexs/4ever-attire/ Shanika will be in white, and Aaron will be in blue! The bridal party and family will be wearing ankle/floor length dresses, saris, and suits. More than anything though, we want you to be comfortable, feel like yourself, and be ready to dance! The ceremony will take place outdoors in a grassy (turf - so heels should not sink) area. The reception will be indoors in an air-conditioned space. Austin weather can be a little unpredictable and days can get quite hot in the morning and cool in the night/shade.
Here's a Q&A our venue gets a lot! This is what they have to say about it: Georgetown is an amazing community of 50,000 people located just 25 miles from Downtown Austin on IH-35. There are a number of beautiful bed and breakfasts set in Victorian homes near the Union, several national hotel chains, but also close enough that if you wanted to stay in Austin, its still a short drive. The Union, only a block from the historic Square, has plenty of restaurants, shopping and drinking spots for your guests to enjoy. It really is fantastic. Learn more about what there is to do in Georgetown at https://www.theuniononeighth.com/georgetown-attractions/. Yes! This event is currently still scheduled for November 2020 - stay tuned for more information!
