This is a beautiful route through the downtown area that follows the river. It's lined with great restaurants, breweries, and urban artwork. Check out the Richmond Locks and Casa Del Barco for some great Mexican food!
Sami's favorite restaurant in Richmond! Located right in the heart of Shockoe Bottom near the canal walk and other historic sites. Be sure to get a spot on the patio to see the triple-railroad crossing!
Belle Isle is a historical island in the center of the James River that used to be a prisoner of war camp during the Civil War. Today, it's a beautiful park by the river with walking trails, bike paths, and historical buildings you can still see and explore. You can access it by walking across a suspended pedestrian bridge!
One of Richmond's best museums! It is located near Belle Isle at the historic site of Tredegar Ironworks and pays homage to a hugely formative period in Richmond's history.
Quaint boutique shopping area with tons of eclectic, iconically Richmond shops. Great place to walk around, grab a sweet treat, or get a souvenir. Don't miss Galaxy Diner for a shake, Agee's Bicycles (Richmond's local bike shop!), One Eyed Jacque's (quirky magic shop), Plan 9 (records), and Bev's (best ice cream in town).
One of our favorite museums in Richmond! It's in the Museum district and very close to Cary Street, which is a lovely area to walk around, window shop, and grab a bite to eat.
100 acres of trails and gardens in the heart of Richmond, including a scenic waterfall! Maymont is a perfect place to visit in the Spring with all of the blooming flowers, and they even offer tours of the Maymont Mansion and the Robbins Nature Center.
