There were two first meetings that happened fall of their freshman year at Augustana College together. The first impression left Randi feeling less love at first sight. It’s okay, we know it ends well! On one of the first nights at Augustana, Randi and Aaron attended a boat cruise for freshman students going through orientation week. The night started well but ended a little rough (especially for some chairs*). Aaron, decided to follow tradition with his football teammates to ensure that no beers were left behind on the boat that day. Randi, attending her 1st college party, judged with her friends from the sidelines, appalled with the players being extremely, let’s call it, “festive”. In that moment, Randi promised to herself (and later in a call to her family) that she would never date a football player. A few weeks later, they were introduced by mutual friend Molly Calhoun (yes, she’s a bridesmaid) at the convenience store in the freshman dorm while both on a late-night snack run. Randi was up late studying, and Aaron was on a mission for more oreos (nothing has changed). We’re all here today thankfully because Randi broke the promise to not date him. After 9 years, 4 cities, 3 degrees, 2 years long distance, 2 apartments, numerous travel adventures, and broken bones, they decided to spend forever together. On September 1, 2019 Aaron got down on one knee during a romantic cliff-side walk in Split, Croatia. They can’t wait to celebrate along with their friends & family on July 16, 2021 in Randi’s home state of Colorado.
