Things To Do

We will have activities planned all weekend — and please keep in mind that downtown Palm Springs is 25min from Sands Hotel. But if wanderlust strikes, these are the spots we highly recommend! **Also our wedding weekend overlaps with Palm Spring Pride, so if you do venture into town, expect a crowd**
Melvyn's Restaurant & Lounge

Melvyn's Restaurant & Lounge

200 West Ramon Road, Palm Springs, CA 92264
, (760) 325-2323

One of our favorite spots in Palm Springs is Melvyn's piano bar. There's tons of history - It's like walking into a time warp. Don't go for the food (it's bad!) just grab cocktails and people-watch.

Palm Springs Aerial Tramway

Palm Springs Aerial Tramway

1 Tram Way, Palm Springs, CA 92262
, (760) 325-1391

Quick tram ride to the top of Mt. San Jacinto with gorgeous views of Palm Springs. It's the largest rotating aerial tramway in the world!

Toucans Tiki Lounge

Toucans Tiki Lounge

2100 North Palm Canyon Drive, Palm Springs, CA 92262
, (760) 416-7584

Tiki Lounge and cabaret with drag shows and karaoke. LGBTQ+ bar with a friendly, festive atmosphere. Go with a small group, loud bachelorette party type groups not as welcome.

Palm Canyon Drive Shopping

Palm Canyon Drive Shopping

North Palm Canyon Drive, Palm Springs, CA 92262

Palm Springs and midcentury modernism go hand in hand, and you’ll find plenty of shops, galleries (notably a showroom from retro-inspired artist SHAG) and eclectic furniture stores dedicated to the playful aesthetic along Palm Canyon Drive.

Ace Hotel & Swim Club

Ace Hotel & Swim Club

701 East Palm Canyon Drive, Palm Springs, CA 92264
, (760) 325-9900

Young pool party vibe at this extremely cute hotel - go elsewhere if you want to chill because it's a scene! You don't have to be a hotel guest to use their pool (although you may have to pay a cover charge). Adult snow-cones are offered poolside. The Amigo Room bar is cozy and has killer drinks. Excellent diner for brunch.

Indian Canyons

Indian Canyons

38520 South Palm Canyon Drive, Palm Springs, CA 92264
, (760) 323-6018

The Indian Canyons are a gorgeous oasis to view local wildlife. There are various trails to explore, from challenging 15-mile mountain hikes (Palm Canyon Trail) to easy 1-mile nature walks (Andreas Canyon Trail).

Parker Palm Springs

Parker Palm Springs

Bootlegger Tiki

Bootlegger Tiki

One of the best tiki bars around with expertly made STRONG drinks. Friendly bartenders. It's a tiny bar so if you want a seat get there at 3:45pm (opens at 4pm daily). Get ready to experience the ultimate Don The Beachcomber.

DIY Architecture Tour

DIY Architecture Tour

Create your own DIY architecture tour of famous midcentury homes in notable neighborhoods, from Tennis Club to Araby Cove, and you’ll spot plenty of architectural gems along the way. Highlights include the Del Marcos Hotel, Elvis’s Honeymoon Hideaway, The Elrod House, Twin Palms Frank Sinatra Estate, Liberace's home, and the Edris House.

Las Casuelas Original

Las Casuelas Original

368 North Palm Canyon Drive, Palm Springs, CA 92262
, (760) 325-3213

A Palm Springs classic. Affordable, authentic Mexican food, nothing fancy. It has been around since 1958 and is a great place to grab a bite when you're shopping on main street. Make sure you're at "the original," not the new locations.

Cabazon Dinosaurs

Cabazon Dinosaurs

50770 Seminole Drive, Cabazon, CA 92230
, (909) 272-8164

You might know these dinos from Pee-Wee's Big Adventure, and they make a great photo op for kids of all ages on the drive into or out of Palm Springs from L.A. Just pull up and take a photo — avoid paying for the museum (trust us).

Joshua Tree National Park

Joshua Tree National Park

Joshua Tree, CA

Joshua Tree is one of the strangest, most magical places we've ever been. The rock formations and namesake trees are unique to this particular place in the world — it's really something you have to experience in person to fully appreciate. The park is about 40 minutes from our venue, so we would really only recommend checking it out if you make it town a day or two before the festivities begin.
