Quinta da Regaleira is a stunning estate located in downtown Sintra known for its romantic architecture, mysterious tunnels, and symbolic gardens. It is our favorite historical place to visit in town. Built in the early 20th century by Antonio Augusto Carvalho Monteiro, a wealthy Portuguese businessman, the estate is deeply influenced by Freemasonry, Templar, and alchemical symbolism. Our favorite feature of the estate is its Initiation Well, a spiral staircase leading deep underground, believed to represent a symbolic journey of rebirth.
We came to this beach on our first trip to Portugal and it is one of our favorite places in the area. It is known for its golden sand, surf-friendly waves, and beautiful cliffs. It’s a great spot for both relaxing and enjoying fresh seafood with an ocean view. We highly recommend Bar do Fundo at the end of the beach (reservations encouraged).
Don't miss the opportunity to explore the charming coastal town of Cascais, just a short ride away from Lisbon. With its sandy beaches and picturesque scenery, Cascais is perfect for a day trip or a relaxing getaway.
