Rachael and Aaron met freshman year at Dartmouth College, when Rachael's cheerleading friends were hanging out with Aaron's football friends in the River dorm common room. It wasn't until junior year summer, however, when Rachael and Aaron were both studying organic chemistry at Harvard that they really started to notice the chemistry between them! Rachael and Aaron officially started dating the very end of senior year, and have been inseparable ever since!
Since graduating Dartmouth in 2014, Rachael and Aaron gradually made their way across the country: from Hanover, NH to Ann Arbor to San Fransisco. Along the way, they adopted an adorable husky-sheltie mix puppy, named Kela, into their family. Aaron and Rachael are still based in the Bay and Kela is 6 years old. Aaron works as a software engineer at WorkRamp and Rachael leads partnerships for an Area 120 startup at Google. Aaron and Rachael have found their way back to the east coast (at least for now) while being able to work remotely during COVID. They have been grateful to be able to spend time with both their families in Cape Cod and Miami.
On a Saturday afternoon in late April, Aaron tells Rachael that he wants to go on a walk before dinner to show her a cool beach path he discovered earlier in the day while on a run near her family's Cape house. One mile of walking later, the path leads them to a rock jetty extending out into the beautiful ocean. Aaron and Rachael climb on the jetty, and discover a bottle with a note in the rocks! (This was after Aaron had made Rachael walk back and forth a few times as he couldn't remember exactly where he placed the bottle). While Rachael read the note, Aaron got down on one knee. When Rachael looked down she saw Aaron and he asked: "Will you marry me?" Rachael said "YES!"
